User Submitted Baby Trend Silverado Sit N' Stand Plus Double Stroller Reviews September 29, 2008 Loved the stroller until it broke, support is terrible I loved this stroller until mine broke. I have only been using it since December, and I rarely use it (4 or 5 times a month) but the 'sturdy' platform in the back is cracked. I contacted support last week to find out where to get a new platform. So far all I have received is questions regarding when I purchased it and how heavy my kids are. I have a 3 year old girl and a 9 month old and they are not heavy kids (30lbs and 19 lbs). Still the platform broke and I need a replacement. I wasn't asking for anything for free, although many good companies would have been more helpful. So here I am a week later with no solution. Apparenlty timely communication is not their strong suit. In the meantime I am considering getting a different brand of a double stroller so I am not without for any longer. If we wouldn't have had an issue with the cracked seat and the related support I would have given this stroller 5 stars.
September 9, 2008 DO NOT BUY Do not buy Baby Trend strollers! I only gave it 1 star because I couldn't figure out how to give it none. We have a Safari Travel System and the support bar between the rear wheels completely broke in two after less than 4 months of daily walks on the sidewalk. And Baby Trend refuses to cover a repair or replacement. Only buy if you consider strollers disposable items, because ours is now ready to throw away.
August 4, 2008 2 or 3 kids? No problem for the Sit N' Stand Plus! Ok, here's the deal on double strollers. Like everyone else, we had the Duo Glider, even the one with the inflatable wheels to help when turning. Hands down, the Sit N' Stand Plus is head and shoulders better and here's why... 1. With this stroller, you CAN FIT 3 KIDS ON THIS STROLLER!! We have a 3.5 and 1.5 year old with a newborn coming in December '08. We put 3 kids in this stroller when trying it out and this is how we did it, infant in front, 1.5 year old in middle, 3.5 year old standing in the rear using the safety strap to keep him from falling backwards into whoever's pushing the stroller. The best way to do this effectively is to do as another reviewer stated and place a bar behind the rear seat back inside the small triangular metal brackets on the handlebar portion of the stroller, this allows the rear child to sit more upright and thus have room for the older third child in the rear. 2. This stroller GLIDES way better than the DuoGlider, even without the inflatable wheels that the DuoGlider had (that always went flat). This stroller is easy to fold, easy to handle, NOT THAT HEAVY!! If you think this stroller is heavy, then you haven't held a child on each hip before. This stroller is not that heavy compared to any other double stroller on the market. 3. Finally, the price is fantastic, we looked all over for a double stroller at the consignment stores and department stores, this is our 4th stroller, we've had a side by side jogger, a Graco Single stroller, a side by side folding umbrella stroller, and a DuoGlider, thank goodness we found this stroller when we did. This is by far the best stroller out there for 2 or 3 kids, beats the Kolcraft as well. If you're considering the Kolcraft, safe some money and buy this stroller, there are more useful options on this stroller than the Kolcraft. You can't fit 3 kids in the Kolcraft unless one is sitting on another's lap. Anyway, I hope this helps, if you don't believe me, just take your 3 kids to Target and load them into this stroller and you'll see just what I mean.
July 28, 2008 Another CADILLAC from Baby Trend [Almost an] Identical review as for their infant car seat: There's no doubt that this is THE Cadillac of stollers designed for use with infant car seats (yes, it works with car seats from "others," as well as their own). I gave this as a gift too and, of course, the manufacturer of this little beauty made me a super hero (again). You can't go wrong with this product!!!
July 12, 2008 perfect stroller for growing family I got this stroller for my 2 yr old and a newborn. It is perfect for them both and will grow with the toddler as he decides he is too big for a stroller. It is lightweight (you have to remember DOUBLE stroller), easy to steer, and has great features. One thing that makes it 4 stars and not 5 is that it says carries most major brand infant carriers. A little misleading. Other brands simply just rest on the bar and you have to use a strap to secure it. The strap is adjustable but only one side and was extremely difficult to adjust for the carseat I had planned on using. Even strapped in, the carseat still slid around a little and made me feel uncomfortable about it. We ended up buying their carseat so it would securely "click" in. I am VERY happy with the stroller and carseat. Even considering the cost of a new carseat it is still cheaper tp have this system and grow with it than it is to purchase another stroller later.
June 24, 2008 Great buy I shopped all over the internet and read all kinds of reviews, this stroller was a great buy for me and my family. My soon to be 3 y/o loves riding in the stroller. He has good leg room, considering he is 39" tall. He loves looking at his new (1mth old) baby brother in the reverse Graco carrier in front. Don't buy this stroller for storage underneath, there isn't any, that's where my older son's legs are. I love this stroller for the price, easy to assemble directions, versatility w/ stand option, & easy maneuvering. My 2 neighbors test drove this with my kids on board and plan to purchase this same stroller. I bought this stroller for shopping trips, nights out down the shore, and short neighborhood walks. I would definitely recommend this product. As always great shopping w/ amazon and free shipping!
June 9, 2008 Well Satisfied This is my fourth stroller in 4 years. It is very simple to assemble. My 4yr old loves the sit and stand platform. It would be even better if there were a way to use both seats and the platform. I have two complaints, one is that if you don't catch the front while folding the stroller it crashes to the ground and will easily get marked; my seond is that it doesn't stand up when folded. The parent tray is great, it's nice to have a place to not only put car keys but to close them in for safety. The front tray is nice, easy to completely remove or just swing open to access your child. While I can't say I'm 100% satisfied, I would reccommend this stroller to families with 2 or more children.
May 7, 2008 Great Stroller I have had this stroller for three months, we got it when my boys were newborn and 2 1/2. I got the Serengetti style which is a lovely light brown and plaid. I have a Graco SafeSeat for my newborn which works great with this stroller. We have taken this stroller all over Florida and back and we have totally fallen in love with it. I read hundreds of reviews for double strollers on many sites, and was so worried that I would buy an expensive double stroller and then my almost three year old would decide he was done with riding in strollers, but I was also afraid if I bought the sit and stand that it's not right for him at the present time. This stoller solves both of those dilemmas. If you have the same concerns you really ought to consider this stroller. Target carries them in stock usually so you can probably see one in person there.
What I love: ** The conversion from standing to sitting is pretty simple, we did it twice without the directions which we had left at home..and yet we still figured it out quickly. The first time took probably about 5 minutes and the second about 3.
** The jumpseat on my stroller is padded which is good. The sitting seats have 5 point harnasses which I like very much. As far as the second seat staying in somewhat of a recline position, we started putting the car carrier in the back seat, where it sits securely, and then my toddler sits in the front seat so he can look out and have the tray. (and leave his poor little brother ALONE...good grief) This also makes the stroller a little bit easier to maneuver as an added benefit. While this is not the intended design, it works great for us.
** It's not terrible heavy and it fits in my 1995 Ford Escort LX in both directions, both across the trunk from wheel to wheel as well as depth wise from the backseat to the trunk latch. I can easily get it in and out of the trunk by myself, if you can lift your toddler, this stroller isn't a great deal heavier..
**It sets up very easily, and collapses quickly with one hand, although I find it a little annoying that the stroller actually folds flatter than what the safety latch holds closed. So, if you use the safety latch the stoller is not folded as flat as it can go, but that's a minor technicality.
** The parent cupholders are pretty deep which is a nice feature.
What I hope they fix in future models: ** As mentioned it's difficult to get into the bottom storage basket, HOWEVER the basket is very large and does hold a fair amount once you get it in. And if you pull all the snaps off you can get stuff in pretty well. For longer trips out where I am in and out of my newborn's diaper bag all the time, I just hang the diaper bag off the handle bars behind the second seat and that works for me.
** The back seat in continual recline mode is annoying but I am going to try the dowel rod trick of one of the other posters to see if that works. Otherwise my 2 1/2 year old just sits up straight and doesn't really notice it anyway.
** Idle cosmetic wishes: I wish the handle bar adjusted up and down like my single stroller. Wouldn't mind a tray in the second seat.
Overall the minuses are minor compared to the pluses. We adore this stroller and would recommend it to anyone in a heartbeat.
April 29, 2008 Do infant car seats actually SNAP/LATCH on? I'm comparing Sit n' Stand models to the Joovy Caboose, and I have an important question. When using an infant car seat, do compatible models actually SNAP/LATCH onto the provided attachment? With the Joovy Caboose, a belt is provided, and each time you take the infant seat off and on, you must thread the belt over/through your infant car seat. The connection feels flimsy and inconvenient to me. I would love to know whether the Sit n' Stand models use a similar belt, or whether the car seats are actually able to SNAP into place, as I had always pictured. Any insight would be much appreciated!
April 6, 2008 Deluxe Sit N' Stand I am very happy with the service and product I recieved!! I will shop here again.
