User Submitted Chicco Cortina KeyFit 30 Travel System in Adventure Reviews November 17, 2008 So far so good! I love this travel system. So far my only complaint is how heavy it is. Other than that it has been wonderful. The car seat does not fit in shopping carts but I wear a sling anyway, so this was not a factor in my rating. It's really easy to use and has great safety reviews. My little guy (who is average in size) is 6 months old and still fits great.
October 4, 2008 Absolutely love this thing First, since I'm only rating the stroller and not the entire system, I can't give it 5 stars. The stroller deserves 5 stars though. Our infant was too big for the car seat when we bought it so we haven't had a chance to use it yet. We bought this system because we wanted the stroller but since it didn't come without the car seat we just gave in and bought the whole thing and decided to sell our old seat.
Anyway, the stroller is amazing. It had all the amenities we were looking for. We did not want a large stroller or a small umbrella stroller so we were looking for a mid-size. My husband is 6 ft tall and I am 5'5" so the adjustable handle is perfect for both of us. My son is tall and big and is 9 months old. He is off the charts for height and is in the 95th percentile for weight and he fits in the seat fine. IDK why another parent said his/her child didn't fit in it. I'd personally love to see that myself.
This is our third purchased stroller, 6th if you count the ones we have borrowed. It rides smoother than the others we have used. It turns easier, rides higher, has more adjustments and amenities than any others. I wish we had bought this instead of the other two strollers we have gone through but hey, live and learn right?
The front wheels are lockable so they do not rotate. Awesome feature. There are many times I rock the stroller back and forth to comfort the baby while eating out or while in a long line at the store. When the wheels rotate on the other strollers while doing this, it frustrates me to no end! I love this locking feature.
The material is the same material as our high chair (Chicco Polly Highchair - Adventure). The material gets spots very easily but they also come out easily. Just throw it in a cold wash without soap, high water level, hang dry and you are set.
September 29, 2008 One size does not fit all First, let me say that this seemed like a very nice system and if my daughter had fit in it, I'd have liked it ok. That being said, my child is extremely long (at 10 weeks old) thru the torso and the angle of the seat (think 45 degree) cut her off mid abdomen instead of under her tush as it would most babies. As a result, she was very uncomfortable and when you clicked the belts in place, her legs were completely immobile. Not a good combo for my little squirmer. The fabric covering the seat was also problematic. It made her VERY hot. I'd scoop her out and she'd be drenched. After being in the seat for over an hour one evening she developed a heat rash on the side of her face which frankly was upsetting to both of us. She seemed so smushed in it so no wonder she got a rash. The actually stroller itself was pretty bulky and took up all of the room in the trunk so unless you have a SUV, this system could be too big. (it's heavy too.. but they're all heavy) As I stated above, this system appeared to be very safe and secure and I have seen several babies who seem quite content in theirs. Every baby is different and unfortunately you don't know what you're gonna get till they pop out :) At 10 weeks of age, I took my daughter to a store and placed her in every car seat there.. We ended up buying the Orbit travel system cause the car seat fit her so much better. It cost $900 and believe me, we are not $900 stroller- type people... but when it comes to your kid, sometimes you pay for the seemingly ridiculous.
August 11, 2008 Couldn't imagine having any other system! This has surpassed my expectations in a travel system. It is so light and easy to use. The car sead\t is comfortable to cary and SO easy to insert and remove. The stroller folds up quickly and effortlessly. It rolls easily on all terrains. LOVE IT!
July 10, 2008 The stroller does not fit our 9-month old son - Do yourself a favor, look elsewhere We purchased the Chicco Cortina thinking that we'd able to use the stroller for our son until he reaches the age of 2 or 3 and that would make up for the hefty price. When he became 8 1/2 months old, his shoulders wouldn't fit into the seat - he can no longer lean back against the seat and has to lean forward all the time. If you look at the picture, the stroller has 2 wings at shoulder level - those are NEITHER foldable NOR removable and are hard plastic. Our son's relatively big (90th percentile) but he's still a baby and much smaller than our 2 1/2 year old daughter who also can't fit and is just in the 50th percentiles.
Also, the harness in the stroller was uncomfortable since he was 6 months old. I read the manual trying to figure how to extend the harness but it was already at maximum. The child seat is a little heavier than other brands and trust me you will feel every extra ounce on your shoulders when carrying it - my wife couldn't lift it after a few months.
The worst part is that I contacted Chicco to ask for a refund. They asked me to email them a picture of our son and fax the receipt. A week later, they got back with the following response. Here's the reply I got:
"Dear Michael,
We appreciate that you have brought this matter to our attention. From the photo and information you have provided, it appears that your son has probably outgrown the travel system you purchased. There does not appear to be a damage or defect that would require any type of warranty repair or replacement of the stroller. Unfortunately we cannot issue a refund for this product.

We've had excellent experience with Graco and should have stayed loyal to them.
July 5, 2008 heavy to lift I like the design and the quality but it is difficult to lift. The car seat is good but I do not like that the hood does not move so much.I always find it is difficult to take the baby out of the car seat when it is in stroller. There is no space and it is not comfortable. The stroller itself very easy to push but I find it hard to put it in the car.So basically I use the stroller to go for a walk and I can not shopping with my baby because I can not lift the car seat with baby and stroller so we go out only with my husband.Overall good product but too much things in travel system and not what I expected.
June 19, 2008 That's right, it DOESN'T FIT ON THE CART There's a very good reason this car seat, rated the SAFEST by Consumer Reports, doesn't fit on a grocery cart - it isn't supposed to. Car seats were never intended to fit on grocery carts and are extremely dangerous if used in this fashion. Many of you will be saying "Hey, nothing ever happened to my baby when I did it with such and such car seat!" But how many of you make your kids wear their seat belts even though you've never been in an accident? It's just common sense. If you are having trouble with too many kids/no room/whatever at the grocery store, figure out another way to handle it. Invest in a sling or front carrier for your baby, or use one of the store-supplied carts that have infant seats (just cover it with a blanket of your own, of course), but don't use a car seat for something for which it was never intended to be used. Babies have actually died from blunt force trauma due to being in car seats placed on grocery carts that overturned. Regardless of whether your seat fits ever so nicely on the cart seat area, just don't do it!
June 17, 2008 GREAT TRAVEL SYSTEM!! My cousins bought this travel system for me for my first baby. It's so easy to use. The stroller was light and easy to maneuver. Of course you have to read the manual to know how to operate it, but once you know how, you can fold and unfold it with one hand. The lady who said her 2 month old baby didn't fit in it probably didn't read the manual to know that you have to take out the extra padding so that her baby can fit nicely. I was sad when my daughter got to big for it and I had to get a forward facing carseat already. I'd recommend this travel system to EVERYBODY!!
June 11, 2008 contact dermatitis The Chicco Keyfit 30 car seat is easy to use, looks great and it has a great safety rating. However, after a couple of months in it, my infant broke out into oozing painful sores wherever his skin touched the carseat. Apparently, contact dermatitis to the flame-resistant chemicals they use in some carseats is a growing problem. As soon as I put a cover in the carseat, my baby's horrible rash cleared up immediately. When I contacted the company to let them know, they got back to me a week later and offered me a new set of soft goods -- the exact same thing that hurt my baby the first time. Not impressed.
May 25, 2008 Great for a taller parent After spending a lot of time testing strollers in store, this one was absolutely my choice. My husband and I are both very tall and this is so comfortable to push around relative to height. I was actually delighted by how light the car seat/carrier was, and I thought the fold up was a breeze compared to some of the bulky Gracos we tested. Positioning the seat for forward facing use (without the carrier) was also very easy. The car base is extremely secure and clicks into place so you can tell its in there properly. Frankly when it comes to ease of use I can't imagine anything else better than the Cortina system. I have read some places that the carrier does not fit in shopping carts. That does not bother me, we use the baby carrier or sling when shopping or just take the stroller in and put items underneath in the storage compartment. As a first time mom I am very impressed with this item and consider it a great value for the price.
