User Submitted Evenflo Expansion Swing Gate Reviews September 9, 2008 easy to install It was a challenge to find a gate large enough for my kitchen. This was very easy to install. For purpose it may have been better to purchase a plastic or metal gate. I purchased this gate for my puppy, she has started to chew the bottom of it and I am a little concerned about its durability. Overall not bad for the price, but maybe not the best choice for a pet gate.
August 10, 2008 evenflo expansion gate's as allways so far never a problem when ordering from amazon! super saver said 6-10 day's was here in 3day's wow! in pefrect condition cant ask for more. average price per piece save me on sale's tax@ 7% wish amazon could nock the prices down alittle since there so big then i would buy everything from them. oh my gates are used for 4 dog's none over 20lbs they work great my jack russell stop chewing everything so they will last. if you have kids !!watch!! there arm's and fingers with these gate's
August 1, 2008 screw in... you need to screw hooks into the wall and the baby just pushes really hard and pulls the hooks out of the wall
July 28, 2008 Love this gate Use this at the top of stairs. There may be an easier gate out there for if your hands are full but I can usually easily do this one with one hand. Sometimes lining up the top and bottom to latch is a little tricky in the dark but otherwise ours is great. I love being able to use the expansion feature to make it small and out of the way to carry big stuff through. When you mount this gate it is probably going to make a big difference if you don't line the hardware up right whether or not it is easy to latch. Our hardware lines up great. I have also heard parents say their kids have tried to climb on these gates because of the holes. Mine have not (2 year old & 10 month olds) but it could happen and be dangerous.
June 15, 2008 hard to find and glad I did` I love these gates and when the one I had got chewed up by the dog, I was panic stricken that I wouldn't find another. This is the only one I have found that fits in my opening between the kitchen and dining room. I love the plastic thing on top that protects kids and pets from the tops of the gate. I actually bought TWO so I could have a spare in case of another chewing incident!
May 8, 2008 Perfect for our needs Our puppy has grown to a tail-wagging 80 pound loving bear. We needed to be able to "corral" him from visiting small grandchildren. We were able to move this gate from doorway to doorway. It worked extremely well. Being able to slide it open or step over or simply pick it up and move it were all advantages to our needs.
May 8, 2008 Exactly what I wanted This swing gate is exactly what I was looking for. I use it to keep my dogs (three, ranging from 25 to 60 pounds) at bay, and it does the job. It installed very easily and I like how it collapses and swings up against the wall when we dont need it.
April 30, 2008 Life saver I actually bought this to use in my kitchen doorway for a new puppy we have. The doorway is larger than a standard door so I needed something with a wide reach. It also is a high traffic area so I needed somthing easy to use. I know other people have complained about lining up the hooks but my family and I have not found that to be hard. I love this gate so much I am thinking of buying 2 more for other doorways I need them on.
April 21, 2008 good gate for the price When I bought this gate, I was actually looking for something to keep my large, very strong puppy out of certain areas of the house.
I went with this one because I didn't want to spend a lot of money and I thought the lattice design was better looking than most expandable gates. The wood is quite a bit sturdier than I expected, and it's extremely easy to adjust it to fit any doorway. The downsides are that latch is a bit small, so it's awkward the first few times you use it, and you have to install bolts into your walls to mount the gate. I don't mind the bolts TOO much, though, because I know for sure that since it's attached right to the wall the gate won't pop out of place if the dog jumps against it.
All-in-all, if you're looking for a pet gate that looks decent, is fairly strong, and won't break the bank, this gate is perfect.
March 26, 2008 The best gate I've seen This gate is really great. It is very easy to install and use. Regular gates are a hassle if your walls are not perfectly straight, but that is not an issue with this gate-No more spending 5 minutes fighting with the gate each time you pass through it. It is also very convenient that it expands so easily to accomodate different doorways.
I can see that you would have to be careful with toddlers who might be tempted to climb over it or play with the latches, but for a pet gate, it is perfect.
