User Submitted Fisher-Price Ocean Wonders Aquarium Cradle Swing Reviews October 12, 2008 ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!!!!!! Used this swing for my first 2 boys. LOVED IT! They loved the fish, the lights and the music. Heck they both slept in it for the first 5-6 months! I'm now on my 3rd child and bought the Rainforest swing, it's ok not bad. Just miss the lights the Ocean one had.
October 6, 2008 The Magic Swing - you must have this We call this the magic swing, because it is amazing. Our son loves it. We started using it when he was a few months old and he is 8 months now and still loves it. The batteries last amazingly long, I think I've only replaced them 3 times in 7 months of use. The aquarium is entertaining and it comes with a tray to attach toys to. When our son was really little, the swing would stop any fussing, allowing us to eat dinner or just have a rest, and it would help us put him to sleep when he was occasionally too fussy to sleep any other way. Now he just likes to play in it, using the tray it comes with. I recommend this to all of my friends. It is a must for any parents.
October 6, 2008 SO much better than many other swings I'm on my second child to use this swing and I love it! We recently went out of town for three weeks and borrowed a swing there, and it made me realize how wonderful mine is.
(1) It does not stop after a while to save batteries. (My son wakes up when swings turn off.) If I want to save batteries, I'll turn it off myself.
(2) You can put your child in it swaddled. Some swings don't allow that. Big plus.
(3) The mobile! Both of my boys have been fascinated by it. And this is a particularly bright mobile. (Some of the papasan swings have very muted mobiles that my sons have ignored.)
As for the bad reviews, many of them were about safety with older babies in it, like one year olds. Aren't you supposed to stop using a swing well before that anyway???
September 11, 2008 Excellent This has been amazing. The seat is larger than another swing that we own so we tend to put our larger twin girl in this and the smaller twin boy in his sister's pink one! LOL
Overall I would recommend this to everyone.
The seat cover and straps are easy to take on and off for washing and we're only on our second set of batteries in 4 months.
I wished we had 2 of these but like I said it takes up a lot of space. More than the other 'smaller' Fisher Price one we own.
Hope that helps.
August 25, 2008 Good swing, music broke after two weeks This is a good swing, I like the two different swinging modes, front to back and side to side. The only problem I had was that the music quit working after 2 weeks. I did not want to disassemble the whole thing and lug it back to the store and I did not want to ship it back to FP and wait for 3-6 weeks for a replacement. We didn't need the music anyway, so we just used the other features, my son is now 8 months old and is still under the weight limit and he enjoys the swing once in awhile, though now that he is mobile, he wants to be on the floor, crawling around. My son was quite fussy and the swing often helped to soothe him, a few nights he actually slept in it for 5 hours straight, if he took him out he woke up and cried and cried!
August 25, 2008 Great swing, design and function are well thought out. To put it simply, from the time our baby was 1 month old until 8 months old, he loved this swing. It swings both ways. Sideways and front to back. It has great options. Swing with no music. no swing with music. Nothing but a rotating mobile. Everything at once (swinging, music, rotating mobile). And one of the greatest features that should be required on all baby/toddler/infant toys and products: a variable volume knob. In other words, you dont have a 3 or 2 way switch between off, soft, and loud or off, soft, medium and loud. Its a variable switch allowing you to set the exact amount of music coming out of this device. In addition to the music, you can select wave sounds and other natural environment sounds. The next great praise I can put to this device is its 2 position seat: upright or a sleep/back position. Not a very good description, what can I say, I'm on 4 hours of sleep. Our first child hated being in a swing. Swings in general may not appeal to all babies. Don't trash this swing for its function just because your baby hated it. I am sure our first would have wailed in it, but our second loves it to death, and while most books will tell you babies shouldn't get used to sleeping in swings, there were times where he would sleep in this swing for several hours: a great transition device. A great soother too. the legs also fold in for ease of movement. I really think they put a lot of effort into the design of this device. Highly recommended.
August 18, 2008 For my grandson I bought this for my grandson who is 7 weeks now and I use it as his sleeping quarters,it lays almost flat.It plays music and the fish spin around,I love it!Very sturdy, have 4 dogs so no need to worry about tipping over.Everyone should have one.........
August 17, 2008 Great overall swing We bought this swing 5 years ago when our daughter was an infant. She loved it and now we use it with our 3 month old son. It held up great in storage all those years. My only drawback is that it doesn't plug in like many of them do these days, but the batteries are cheaper than buying a new swing. Both kids absolutely adored watching the mobile overhead. We've been very pleased with this swing over the years.
August 13, 2008 I love this swing almost as much as my son does! This is the best looking swing for a boy. I highly recommend getting one that swings side-to-side and back-and-forth because you don't know which your baby is going to like. This swing has it all, moving objects, music, lights, and multiple speeds. All of this means I have a happy baby!!!
August 12, 2008 A wonderful swing for wee ones! I got this swing for my son when he was a newborn, and it did a fantastic job of lulling him to sleep. As he grew, he enjoyed watching the mobile and looking around while swinging. Baby number two was born in March, and she too has enjoyed the swing since then. If you put one of those padded inserts they sell for newborns to use in carseats (it helps stabilize their heads better, etc- I think Kiddopotamus puts it out)into the seat of this swing, it will keep your newborn perfectly safe and snug. Once my son and daughter got big enough, I just took the padded insert out. The noise others have mentioned in their reviews does almost sound womb-like- very whooshing and hypnotic- I agree with those who remarked it works better than the music at putting the little ones to sleep! The swing does take up a lot of space, but currently, it's really the only large piece of equipment we're using for our daughter (she's too tiny for playpen or anything of the sort at 4 months), so I feel it's more than a fair trade off due to how much she enjoys it. I really highly recommend this swing!
