User Submitted Fisher-Price Open Top Take-Along Swing - Scribble Safari Reviews November 26, 2008 Fun and practical I like this swing because it's cute, not too gaudy, and compact in size for my small house. It doesn't fold up as well as the picture shows. The legs fold in, which is great. The seat will fold like that, but there's nothing to keep it like that. So unless you sew on some velcro or something, it's going to pop right back to it's original shape. But still fits in the closet or car. It's just a little clunky to be carrying around.
My son loves it. We used it from birth, still use it at 5 months (now he watches the toys), and will continue to use for a few more months I'm sure. The toys are a little boring, but we often put others on it or in the swing with him. The music is cute and not really annoying. I like that it can also be silent. With daily use, the batteries last about 2 months.
October 13, 2008 Great Swing for Baby Number 3! Our old swing broke shortly after our 3rd was born. I borrowed a different version of this swing from a friend and liked it so much we bought our own. NOTE: There are two versions - one with lights, sounds and toys and one without. I bought the simpler one on purpose, in fact I was thrilled to find it. The main reason our old swing broke was because my 2 and 3 year olds were constantly playing with the light and sounds switches. They would wake the baby by turning the music up loud and the extra features made it eat batteries faster. With this swing there is nothing to attract them so they let baby swing in peace! I love how easy it is to fold it up and move it from room to room. I also really like the fabric. The open-top feature also makes getting baby into and out of the swing a breeze. The first set of batteries I put in were cheap ones and they didn't last long but brand-name batteries will last for ages. Our son loves his swing and I love knowing that it won't take up much room when it's time to put it away. Also, it's super easy to take along anywhere you need to go. I would highly recommend this swing!
October 11, 2008 Great Swing! Life Safer! I extremely love this swing. This swing absolutely my life safer. I have a 6 days old newborn when hurricane IKE hit Houston.
I'm a first time mother, I don't have experience in taking care of newborn, and I am worried if a baby cries all the time.
When the hurricane hit, our house was out of power and we cannot open our window. Our newborn cried all the time and wouldn't go to sleep because it's so hot without AC and NO air flow at all and we can only use baby gear that use batteries. We tried to put him on bouncer, nursed him, changed diapers, sang to him, fan him with hands, we even tried to swing it with our hands, basically we tried everything we knew to make him stop crying and nothing works, but once I put him in this swing, he slept like a lamb.
At first, I was so worried to put a newborn baby in a swing, since nothing worked, we decided to try this swing and I used the lowest setting and it worked. We monitored him all the time to make sure his head didn't fall.
We are very2 happy with this swing. I think my son loves the music. It's very calming.
We were out of power for a week and this swing is our life safer, even until now. Now he is almost 5 weeks old, and he is happy when we put him on a swing. The hanging toys makes him very attracted.
We even tried another fisher price swing when we stay at our friend's house (I forgot the name of the swing, it's soft yellow color), but my son hate it, he still cry. I think my son is a very picky baby, he wants a calming music, attractive toys and great swing and this is the best swing ever. Very easy to assemble and lightweight. I really recommend this swing.
I heard from 2 of my friends that their babies hate swing and prefer bouncer. Both of them have 2 baby girl. Their babies got scared when they put on a swing, but my baby boy loves it so much. My son hate his bouncer. Probably it depends on the baby too.
August 27, 2008 great swing I bought this swing for my 3 week old daughter and its great. Its small and easy to move around.
August 18, 2008 A Must-Have for Babies! I love this swing! My second baby would scream every time I left her with her aunt or grandma until I purchased this swing. It is easily transported, and takes up a lot less space than our conventional swing. Since we don't have a huge house, every little bit of space we can save helps. The only thing I would change is the toys. They seem to be fun to look at, but they are unreachable. I just attach her car seat toys if she wants something to play with. Every mom needs a swing like this!
August 17, 2008 so far so good I am due in two weeks with my first child, and so have not yet used the swing. However, it is super cute and was way easy to put together. I live in a small two bedroom apartment, so the size is perfect. I just know that having it is going to make a world of difference when my baby comes.
August 10, 2008 Good, but recalled. This is a nice swing, but this version has been recalled as of May 2007. Check the fisher price website for details. We experienced the exact problem that others described.
Battery life was good, and it calmed our baby for a while, but don't expect to use it for many months...
August 4, 2008 Great swing! We ordered this product for our 3 month old daughter to take on vacation with us. She loves her regular swing so we knew we needed one to take with us. It was very easy to put together and was nice and powerful. It didn't fold up quite as small as I had thought but we had room in the car for it. Overall, I'm glad we had it!
July 27, 2008 GREAT swing for the price I bought this swing for my 7 week old son and he LOVES it. He constantly falls asleep in the swing, leaving me time to get things done around the house. It would be nice if it played music, but you can't have it all at this price.
July 26, 2008 Great Swing But Some Assembly Trouble I purchased this item last week and received it this Tuesday. I just finished putting together the swing and it works like a charm! I know when my son arrives he will love it! The only 3 things I dislike about the swing is: it was hard to get the chair part to snap together into the actual swinging mechanism, it isn't as compact as the box leads it on to be, and the choice of music. If those things could be changed, it would really be the perfect swing.
