User Submitted Fisher-Price Rainforest Melodies & Lights Deluxe Gym Reviews December 30, 2008 Wonderful! This is a great gym! My son played with this from birth to 1 year old. My second son loves it as well(3 months old). They would at times even spend up to an hour playing in the gym. They love the lights, music and the animals. I would highly recommend this!
December 30, 2008 There are better playmats out there. I have twins, and bought two playmats - this one and the Baby Einstein. I have to say the Baby Einstein wins hands-down, though this one does have some nice features. I would give it 5 stars if it only had more toys on it to hold baby's attention, but it is very sparsely populated in the toy department.
Pros:
has nice music and a couple of flashing lights
has a detachable monkey which the babies LOVE - they try to eat him every chance they get
babies also like the elephant rattle and spinning wheel toy
babies like looking at the playmat animals during tummy time - very cute design!
Cons:
There definitely aren't enough toys on this! If they don't want to include more toys, at least include enough toy holders so you can add your own.
The toys that are included aren't all that interesting, with the exception of the three I mentioned. The Baby Einstein toys are MUCH more interactive for baby.
The mirror on the giraffe points in the wrong direction - not toward the center of the mat as in the ad, but parallel with the edge, a position in which the baby would never be. I have to hold the mirror for baby to see herself during tummy time. No way to get it to point in the right direction.
To my horror, I turned around to see baby holding the mirror that had fallen out of the red frame and was about to chomp down - it's a thin, very sharp disc. Baby would easily have cut herself. It's constantly falling out - I've had to restick that $@#! thing a dozen times and watch the babies like a hawk. I've tried to glue it in, but need stronger glue I suppose.
The butterflies at the top should spin - seems like they are supposed to spin, since they are on a mobile that rotates - but they do nothing, and are too high up for babies to reach. Are we supposed to spin it for the babies? It's in an awkward position for this. Maybe mine is broken.
Overall I'd say this is cute, but kind of worthless overall and expensive. There are much better playmats out there. I have the rainforest bouncy seat which the girls absolutely love, which is why I bought this playmat, but now wish I hadn't.
December 28, 2008 Fisher-Price Rainforest Melodies & Lights Deluxe Gym THE RAINFOREST MATT IS SO CUTE. IT IS ADORABLE. IT HAS SEVERAL LIGHT AND OR MUSIC COMBINATIONS TO CHOOSE FROM. IT ALSO HAS A RAINFOREST SOUND, THAT YOU HEAR WATER TRICKELING DOWN A STREAM, FAINT FOREST SOUNDS, ECT. IT IS GREAT, JUST WISH THE MATT WAS A LITTLE BIGGER.
December 18, 2008 Love this gym! I got this for my twins, they are 1 and they still love it. A lot of people have seen it and commented on how nice it is. I love that it can play music when they move and touch things. My twins found constant light and sound too much but they like the cause and effect of this toy and toys like it. I highly recommend this gym.
December 16, 2008 I love it.... This is very good product for babies. when you want them to put down and do some work or let them do some workout.
December 15, 2008 Perfect Entertainer My son loves this gym, the best part of this gym is that the sound and lights happen according tot he baby's movements. Not sure if my 3 month old realizes that there is music happening as he moves, but he absolutely loves hte lights and the bright colored animals. He has now started grabbing stuff, so the elephant rattle really amuses him. We also use it as a tummy time playmat.
December 14, 2008 Keeps my baby entertained for a long time! My baby loves this gym, he's almost 3 months old and stays happily in it for about 30 minutes. He loves the lights and music, and recently has begun to play with the toys that are hanging from it as well. He talks to the toys and makes sounds and kicks, obviously enjoying himself. I really recommend this product to other parents.
December 14, 2008 Hours of entertainment! My son loves this gym, he's now 4 months old and has been amazed by it ever since we brought it home. He will smile and giggle and loves playing in the gym, either alone or with us helping him play with all the cool stuff. Careful, you'll find yourself singing along to the music in no time.
Best thing we've bought so far...
December 10, 2008 Stellar Product! I bought this for my 3 month old when she started trying to roll over, as we had purchased a different mat that wasn't very wide. She absolutely loves it. We can play with her on it, or let her entertain herself. It runs for 18 minutes, but she will play on it for more than one run through. We haven't gotten to use the child activated feature yet, but it seems like you have to hit it a little hard to get that part to work. We use it for tummy time and just letting her play on her back. I was worried that batteries would run out quick, but we have used it multiple times a day for over a month and haven't had to replace them yet!
December 10, 2008 One of the best purchases for baby My husband I bought this item when our baby was two months old, and now he is over 6 months old and still loves it. It is great for tummy time, reaching and grabbing, rolling, and even sitting up. At each milestone so far he has discovered a new use for this Gym. It can entertain him for 30 min or more, which is very hard to do for our baby.
