User Submitted Fiskars Softouch Micro-Tip Pruning Snip #9921 Reviews September 9, 2008 Handy little pruner Fiskars Softouch Micro-Tip Pruning Snip #9921
This is a great tool. It's sharp, lightweight, and fits comfortably in my hand. Even my husband noticed how much easier it was for me to do the pruning. The only fault I see is the lock that engages sometimes while you're snipping. However, that is easily fixed and doesn't affect my satisfaction with this tool. I liked it so much that I bought one for my best friend.
August 8, 2008 expensive but worth every penny
these little nippers get into place big shears can't! They're great for deadheading or topping off plants so you get bushier growth. i bought my last pair about 10 years ago and they're still doing remarkably well for their age.
August 3, 2008 Very good small pruner This is just the right size for dead-heading flowers and pruning small diameter branches. I use it all the time
July 31, 2008 Essential garden/greenhouse tool This little tool has a solid feel in my hand and can cleanly prune or deadhead without cutting the stems you want to keep. A wonderful gift for a gardener and priced reasonably.
July 4, 2008 My favorite for deadheading These are great for deadheading! The blades are so pointy that you can get right in to the exact spot you want to snip, without breaking off other stems and flowers you want to leave intact. They are super-sharp, and have a nice "ergonomically correct" feel. We bought one pair, then we bought more! We are avid gardeners are do a lot of deadheading. Examples: Perfect for exact and precise deadheading of peach-leaved bellflower, petunias, Sarastro bellflower. I think someone who arranges cut flowers would also like these snips.
June 27, 2008 Perfect when needed This is perfect for deadheading roses and other spent blossoms. Generally easy to use, but the locking mechanism can be annoying, especially with gloves on.
May 5, 2008 My favorite light pruning tool When I've had a garden in the past, my Gerber Daisies and Geraniums did not bloom as much as other people's did. I believed that it was a function of better soil, light, food, etc. I now know that it was because I did not trim the spent flowers aggressively. I found that my regular pruning shears tended to take off more than 1 stem. When I tried to pull out the dead blooms, I would often take up more than the dead flower unless the stem was dry & brown; I often found myself pulling up the whole plant especially on my younger plants. I now take my micro-tip pruning snippers with me whenever I check out my flower beds. It fits easily in my pocket, and I can just snip any dead blooms I see. My geraniums are flourishing. People comment on them whenever they pass by, and they can't believe that the plants are only about 2 months old. It didn't take long for me to lose the little cover that came with it, but I don't really miss it because, as an avid gardener who enjoys beautiful plants, I tend to take good care of my pruning tools.
They fit easily among the branches of lush plants so that I can snip only the leaves I'm aiming for and leave all of the others. I've been using them about 5 months and love them more every day. I limit their use to delicate plants to preserve the sharp edge and therefore limit the trauma to my plants as long as possible. I use the Fiskars Power-Lever Bypass Pruner #9634 for my roses and shrubbery and the Fiskars 18-Inch PowerGear Bypass Lopper #9625 for small tree branches.
March 10, 2008 Best little cutters I use a lot of Fiskars gardening tools and these are the best small pruners I have found. My last pair lasted over 3 years.
February 9, 2008 Great pruning snips for herb gardens. I ordered these pruning snips to use with my herb garden based on the small size of the cutting tip and the price.
Pros: 1. Small cutting tip works great for getting in between different plants. 2. Small size is comfortable in hand. 3. Symmetrical, so it doesn't matter which way you pick it up to use. 4. Well placed and easy to use switch - accessible from both sides. 5. Spring loaded. 6. Safety cap easy to put on/take off.
Cons: None yet.
Periodically add a light coat of oil to the cutting tip to keep rust from forming. I have not seen any rust on my snips, but a little preventive maintenance is always good. Since I use my snips for herbs, I use vegetable oil.
February 8, 2008 Great Snip The Fiskars Micro-tip pruner is super for "buds off" when too many on peach limb, great for the apples they bud in groups of 5 and for snipping veggies and herbs...
