Dealing with dirty diapers just plain stinks, and Moms told us they wanted a hassle-free way to dispose of them. Graco's new Touch Free Diaper Pail was designed to make diaper duty easier for parents who already have their hands full. Just wave the dirty diaper over its motion sensor and voila?the lid automatically opens so you can drop it in the pail without ever having to take your other hand off your squirming baby or twist or shove the diaper down into some complicated chamber.

Graco's advanced isolation design helps contain odors inside the pail, and the Touch Free activated carbon filters are specially made to absorb the worst diaper stench, so your nursery smells fresh and clean like your baby. With a simple, contemporary look and space-saving design, it fits in to any nursery, and uses standard 10-gallon and 13-gallon trash bags instead of pricy custom refills. Junk!
This is worst piece of junk next to other crappy Gracco products. The door constantly jams. You have to stick you hand inside the ball mechanism in order to free it up. Eventually, something broke inside and now the door will not open. The pale doesn't hold enough diapers to make it through half a week due to the enormous trap door that makes up 30% of the pail. I'm tired of getting ripped off by this company. This is the third product of theirs that malfunctioned and eventually broke. I'll never buy another Gracco product again.

Great diaper pail
We bought this diaper pail for our nursery. I liked the fact that it was touch free and that it used regular garbage bags. It was wonderful and we liked it so much that bought a second one for our downstairs changing table too.

Touch free...a fun toy for kids...
We have 16 month old twins so we go through A LOT of diapers. A few months ago, I got fed up wasting money on diaper genie refill packs and started shopping around. The Graco diaper pail got excellent reviews here so I jumped in, and decided to surprise my wife with a new solution, even though it was priced pretty high compared to what we felt a 'diaper pail' should cost.

When she saw it, her first reaction was 'well, it's nice, but...how do we stop the twins from triggering the infra-red opener and playing with it.' Valid concern, the diaper pail quickly became one of their favorite toys (as any parent knows, the best toys from a kid's perspective are the ones that parents don't encourage).

Open...close...open...close... Then one day, the diaper pail got over-full, and somehow wouldn't open or close anymore. When I emptied it, somehow the mechanism to open and close had broken, just weeks after buying it. We can (and do) still manually use the pail, but the electronic part no longer works...

So, my advice is that this would probably be good for new parents, up until kids start walking around themselves and getting curious. I would be careful to empty this regularly, because I suspect ours broke once it got too full. At some stage you may want to just turn off the infra-red part, and just use it manually, it works fine that way.

Can't wait to use!
Received item in timely fashion. Can't wait to use. Read all the other reviews, which is why I purchased this item. Had the diaper gennie with my son and the smell was so bad we got rid of it in two months. Like the idea of hands free also. Also like the fact you can use regular garbage bags with this pail.

Better than the diaper champ and worth the money.
got this pail reluctantly since there were so many terrible reviews about this one and most people praised the diaper champ. I got it because I was able to get it free through a work incentive program, so i thought I'd try it out. Now that i have it, i would have paid the $50 or so for it.

My daughter is 3 months old now and I haven't had to change the batteries yet. I can use the target stretchy grocery bags in it... i'm sure you can use others but those tie the tightest when i have to throw the diapers out. I love the touch free aspect so you don't have to let go of the baby on the changing table to throw away the diaper.

As far as the smell goes... there is none! We are in a small apartment and have it in our bedroom and haven't smelled the dirty diapers once. However, when we went to visit a friend who has a baby the same age as ours. We used their "diaper champ" and both my husband and I noticed that their diaper pail smelled bad and didn't like having to reach over to turn the handle thing.

Some other negative comments people have made about it are that you have to empty the diapers frequently. I only have had to change it every couple days at the beginning when you change a million diapers a day, and now that we're changing diapers less, i probably empty it once or twice a week. Besides, i don't like to have dirty diapers sitting in my house a long time anyways.

Awesome diaper pail
We have twins and love this diaper pail. It never stinks at all, thanks to the filters, which are cheap, and really easy to replace. The automatic lid is great - you just wave your hand over it and it opens and automatically closes. You never have to touch the lid. You can use regular garbage bags which also saves $$. It fills up after 2-3 days because of the amt of diapers twins generate. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

Great for multiples!
We have triplets, so this diaper pail is perfect for us. We have used the Diaper Champ in the past, but our girls became fascinated with it and just wanted to play with it. There must be something fascinating to a 1-year-old about that handle... Anyway, tired of fishing Little People out of the bag of dirty diapers, I decided to try this diaper pail on the recommendation of another friend with triplets. We have had no problems. The girls aren't really interested in the pail since it's just a flap that lifts. It's a little tough for them to lift, anyway. We don't use the automatic setting (too interesting for the little ones!), so I can't really comment on that. We empty it every day, so we don't have any problem with smell build-up. That being said, you can definitely tell when it's time for a new filter. But, they're cheap, easy to install, and readily available, so no biggie. If you had just one child, I could see that this might not be perfect for you - the smells might linger, and it might not hold as many days worth of diapers as other systems. But, for us it works great!
