Great Pump
Effective, comfortable, compact, what can I say? The best of any manual pump I've ever tried.

Harmony over Avent Isis any day
I bought the Avent Isis pump before my child was born... It had so many positive reviews that I thought it's popularity must be a sign of its functionality... But I was wrong. I ended up buying the Medela Harmony manual pump by the third week. It is FAR superior! And it is cheaper! Plus it works with many bottle systems. Clearly Avent spends far more on marketing and product placement while the Medela Harmony focuses on being a great product.

Isis vs Harmony

Isis is creeky, awkward and leaky... a third of the milk would pour out onto my lap. Also, as another reviewer noted, you have to contort into an awkward forward crunch position to get the milk inside the pump. I soooo wish I had the Harmony when my milk came in. Using the Isis with my engorged breasts was HORRIBLE! So painful and uncomfortable!

The harmony doesn't leak at all, is easy to pump, is totally silent and best yet... works with most bottles.

It is a great low investment hand pump for moms who are only pumping once or twice a day - not intended for going back to work and making vast stores of milk in the freezer. Get an electric for that. But this is tidy and small - great for trips and diaper bag etc. I was completely satisfied.

Easy to use
This pump is a great manual pump. It is easy to clean and use. I love how the handle swivels so that you can use it at any angle. Great when you are pumping and feeding at the same time.

This is great to use to make occasional bottles or to relieve engorgement. I plan on buying an electric one to make more bottles, but will continue to use this one (especially outside the house).

get the Isis instead
This pump is REALLY slow, and absolutely KILLS your hand. For about the same price get the Avent Isis manual pump, it is WAAAAAAY faster and because of the massaging petals you get way more milk per pump, so it doesn't hurt your hand. I haven't found that it hurts my hand at all, because you use it for way less time and have to pump far less often.

Great for stay-at-home moms
I bought this upon the recommendation of my lactation consultant, and so far I've been very pleased. I wanted to have a few bottles of breastmilk available so my husband could feed our baby when I'm out running errands. There are just a few parts, so assembly, disassembly, and cleaning is very easy. But the best part about the pump, is that you can buy different-sized breastshields to use with it. I needed a larger one than what came standard with it. It makes pumping more comfortable. The first few times I used it, I considered switching to an electric pump because I wasn't pumping much milk. But the more I pumped, the more milk I produced. This breastpump is worth every penny. I recommend it to anyone who primarly breastfeeds, but wants the option of being able to have someone else occasionally feed the baby.

Time Consuming
I got this pump for free from my local WIC office, I thought what the heck I will use it for a while and see what I think before I buy a electric pump. I am a stay at home mom and only pump once a day when my daughter is down for the night (she sleeps about 10hrs straight)....the pump works but I can tell just from feeling my breast that there is more in there that the pump is not able to get out. It also takes quite a bit of time and I am constanly having to let the suction off and reposition to keep the flow of milk going. I would recommend this pump if you are only pumping once or twice a week, anymore than that and it seems that you are spending all your free time with it. I am looking for a electric pump now to hopefully cut down on the pumping time....and give my hand a much needed break.

Good Pump
If you are planning to stay at home and you are going to pump only a couple of times a day (maybe 2 or 3) this is a great pump. I didn't know how to use it at first but after calling Medela's customer support line I was able to use it easily. I didn't rate it 5 stars only because you can't use it many times throughout the day (Your hands would hurt).
But other than that I think is a great pump for the price.
