In the Stairway Gate Installation Kit (Model K12), KidCo has assembled the materials and fasteners necessary to properly install any child safety gate to stairway banisters, without drilling into your expensive, decorative wood. One kit is required for each side of the gate that is being mounted to a banister; and only the most basic tools are needed to assemble any good child safety gate. For use at the top or bottom of stairs with hardware or pressure mount gates. The hardware is designed to fit square posts 2 1/2in - 3 5/8in wide or use the included insert for round post installation. Just what i was looking for
This is like the best invention ever invented. Well besides Pizza and maybe the cartoon Smurfs. Kidding aside, We have at the top of our stairs an opening where the rails dont quite match up so a typical baby gate like the ones with the pressure points would not work. Next choice was installing a gate and screwing into our nice oak post stair railings. Not an option. Then i stumbled across these things. Worked perfectly and so easy to install. Most importantly they are easy to remove and when you decide to remove them, no screw holes in the nice oak to fill or cover up. Very very thankfull for these. Highly Recommended.

Exactly what we needed
This was exactly what we needed to install a gate on our steps without drilling or otherwise marring our oak banister. We use it with a pressure-mounted gate and it is wonderful!!!!

no drilling your banister
We got this because we didn't want to make holes in the nice wood banister at the top of our staircase. It works great. We will buy another for the bottom of the stairs.

Great Product
I have searched everywhere for something like this and I am ecstatic that I was able to find it at Amazon. We were very concerned that we would have to drill holes on our expensive banister since no other baby/kid store or home store had anything like this. It's wonderful and the baby gate is very sturdy.

A must have for many homes
I found I had to have two of these for my bannister dimensions. Also nice for eliminating the holes in your wood or easy removal for dressing up the house. Excellent quality and rugged.

These saved my vintage railings and son from harm at the same time!
What a find. We really wanted to securely fasten gates at the top and bottom of our stairs but couldn't find anything that would work properly until we found these. They really did the trick. They are perfectly secure around the posts as both square and with the round post inserts. Note: mine were sold through Target but not available from target.com.
