A good buy
I am a stay at home mom who wanted a good electric pump that would last, but I didn't need the full on double pump like the pump in style or similar type things as I did not need to pump every day. Most of the electric pumps that were less expensive had many reviews claiming they broke quickly, and I did not want to waste money on something that would break. This pump doesn't cost much more, and also has excellent reviews. It has worked great for me, is easy to clean and easy to use. I have not had any trouble with the flap part falling out mid pumping, so perhaps they have upgraded the product since that was an issue. It is a great mid-grade pump and at an excellent price. It was definitely worth the money for me. I've had it five months now and I've never had any trouble with it and have always been able to pump adequate amounts of milk with it. I'd recommend it to anyone who plan on only pumping once a day or less, but still wants a good electric pump.

great pump!
This pump is great! It does the job really well. I initially got it prior to giving birth to my son with the intention of using it scarcely, hence deciding on what I deduced from reviews was the best pump out there, and only needing a single pump. It was the best bang for the buck for my needs. As it turns out I've been pumping daily pretty much since the first month. I've had problems since the begining with my left breast/nipple while breastfeeding and I had to pump it pretty much daily. Now I actually pump daily both breasts before going to bed and store the milk for the next day. I wish I had a double pump, as it would cut my time pumping in half, but the single Swing pump works fine. It takes about 40 min to pump both breasts, and it can get pretty loud the higher you pump up the suction mode. Amazon had the best price anywhere for it, and with the $25 coupon they had sent us it was an even greater deal! I hate that the double breast pumps are so expensive, but I'm glad I can live with the single version.

On another note... I've been using the pump now for 4 mths, and the SoftFit breast shield that came with it has morphed into a "stretched-out looking" shape. I don't think it's suctioning power is as great as when I first started using it (though it still does the job fine) and I'm assuming it needs to be replaced. I know they sell them individually, so I plan to get a new one to replace it.

An excellent pump for the money
This is a really fantastic pump. The first phase really encourages let-down. This feature is great if you don't have that engorged feeling before you start pumping. I've used the Medela Double Pump and the Pump in Style, and this one is my favorite of the three. It's easy to use and small enough to cart around without taking up too much space. I use it about 5-7 times a week and find it sufficient for my needs. It's probably not the best choice if you work full time or are exclusively pumping, but for a mom who needs to pump a few bottles a week, this pump is perfect.

Pump Stopped working
hi,

I started using the swing pump after my baby was born. The pump worked fine for the first 2 weeks. After that it's efficiency reduced dramatically, in that, it started pumping 1/4 of what it used to earlier.
I know that i'm producing normally as i frequently overflow, but the pump just does not work...
Working with customer support to see what can be done..For that kind of money this is certainly not expected.

Will send updates if any..

It's okay.
I am not very pleased. It takes me a very long time to pump--nearly 2hrs for about 2 oz. The price was decent. It is a good thing that I am a stay at home mom now. You have to hold it to your breast very tightly to get it to do what is supposed to. Sometimes the pumping even hurts.

I am glad that my baby took to the nipples on the Medela bottles fairly well. I'm mainly just very disappointed in the time it takes to pump.

Wonderful for SAHM's
I really thought this was a wonderful pump for stay at home mom's. I'm not sure how great it would be if you were exclusively pumping during the day while working, but for my periodic uses, I loved it. I usually used it on electric power, since I thought it ate through batteries pretty quickly, but when I did need to use it on battery power (like in the car) it worked well too. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I felt like it did not have quite as powerful of a suction on battery, but since I was usually plugged in, that wasn't an issue for me. I did use it while on vacation without my child for 5 days, pumping at least 6 times per day, including two 8 hour car trips, and it worked great!

Stay at home mom
This pump is the best for a stay at home mom. It's not overly expensive compared to some and the quality can't be beat. Ask any lactation consultant and they will tell you that Medela is the best commercial grade pump you can get. The reason I needed to get a breast pump was for occasional pumping. Because of the portable motor you can actually pump in your car, or even at the movie theatre...(if you really want to...) the point is, it's practical. You can pump and rock your baby at the same time. You can pump and use your other hand to cook. This pump is also great for relieving engorgement.

Stopped working after 3 months!
Had this pump not stopped working after 3 months I would have given it 4 stars. But it doesn't deserve it because it was expensive and didn't last!

It don't mean a thing if it IS the Swing...
I've been lugging around my Pump-n-Style through three babies... until it finally broke. I was turned on to the Swing 'cause it's so compact - and cute - and considering baby #3 is now 10 months old, I thought the Swing would be a wise buy, because I'm only pumping a few times a week. WRONG!!! Give me back my Pump-n-Style! The Swing takes at least 3x as long - w/ the Pump-n-Style I'm able to set up, pump both breasts and put everything back in the bag w/in 10 minutes. The Swing takes AT LEAST half an hour - not good when I only get 30 minutes for a lunch break @ work.... What's worse is I just don't get as much milk with the Swing: and my breasts are engorged again much sooner. The "Advanced" option makes absolutely no difference. I'm taking back the Swing and getting another Pump-n-Style.

Finally found the best pump!
I've tried everything from a hospital breast pump system (huge! loud!) to a hand pump (useless!) and the Medela Swing is by far the best I've ever used. I'm 100% happy with it. It's highly effective, quiet, easy to use, compact and discreet. The two-phase pumping action (designed to mimic the way a baby nurses) really does help let-down and creates an effective flow without discomfort or sitting around waiting for ages. It's simple and intuitive to use, and very light and easy to transport in the sturdy draw-string bag that comes with it. I'm recommending it to all my friends.
