Sticky
The plastic is too sticky or grippy, pulls uncomfortably. If the plastic was softer or a more rubber-like consistency it would probably work better, I think it's a poor design.

Medela Softfit Shields are more comfortable
The SoftFit shields are more comfortable than the standard shields that come with the pump. Several of these reviews talk about increased milk production, so the reviewers were disappointed with the shields b/c they didn't see an increase. If your concern is comfort, I think you'll be pleased. I pumped for a year with my first child, and I'm 5+ months into my 2nd, and I just wish I had discovered these sooner. I've never been in pain pumping, just uncomfortable and I dreaded it every time. I've had these shields for a week, and I'm so much more comfortable and I'm not dreading pumping!

Very Comfortable
As a mother who has a child in the NICU, pumping milk is a necessity because I am not able to feed him naturally. The hard plastic shields just weren't as comfortable as these SoftFit Breastshields. Like it's namesake, these are very soft and even has a massaging feel to it. Because of it's design, it also helps prevent spilling milk when you detach from the shield. I would recommend these to any mom who have to continually use a breast pump because of the dramatic elevated comfort level.

FYI: yes this is John's wife

Don't feel a difference
I honestly don't feel a difference with these.
Also, the soft plastic has turned orange. May be from the lanolin cream, but it's getting darker.
If you're only have slight discomfort, getting these won't help as much as they make it seem.

Nice alternative to the hard plastic
The new Medela soft fit breast shields are a nice alternative to the standard "horns" that most pumps come with. Some women may notice an increase in output when using these, as they are more comfortable to use. They only come in one size, but they fit most women, I think.

Ouch! But I found a cure...
I love Medela. Love, love, love the brand. I am not one that needs to have brand name products, except when it comes to Medela because they have never done me wrong. I bought these shields as an additional set for my PIS (never hurts to have spare parts!) However, these are definitely not high on my list of favorite accessories. They stick to the skin badly and I would literally have to "peel" them off, which (as you would imagine) was very painful for such sensitive skin. I have only cleaned the shields in the MicroSteam bags, never in the dishwasher and I know they're not warped. I have found that if I put PureLan around the areola before pumping, there is no sticking and it's a more pleasant experience. I do not get more milk, as other reviewers have. I pump the same as I do with my hard shields (which I don't find uncomfortable at all) and there are little air bubbles that form where drops of milk get caught between the breast and shield. All in all now that I discovered the PureLan trick I'm happy, but I had many painful pumping sessions before this. If I ever need new shields I would not buy these again.

Not much different
I don't really see the benefit of these. I didn't really find them more comfortable, and like another reviewer, I had high hopes that these would get me more milk, since they supposedly have a 'massaging' action. Not so, at least for me. There wasn't anything wrong with them; I just don't see the point. If you want to get more milk, try the next size up of the regular shield, the one for large nipples, even if you don't think your nipples are large: they'll pull more breast tissue into the cylinder. Worth a try.

The best shields!
These are far far superior and way more comfortable than the ones that came with the pump. Just start with these. Your nips will thank you. Why don't they just make these standard? The others are so uncomfortable compared to these. It's a no brainer. , I am talking about the "SoftFit".

Just so-so
I bought the shields w/ the hope that I would be able to get more milk from them than w/ the hard ones that come w/ the pump. My lactation consultant told me this would probably be the case. However, I did not get more milk, just my normal amount. These shields are more comfortable than the hard ones, but you can only tell after you've used the soft ones for a while and then use the hard ones. The difference at first is not noticeable. However, they were not expensive so if comfort or needing to get more milk if driving you to get these, they are definately worth a try and hopefully you will have better luck than I did. Happy Nursing!
