User Submitted Moby Wrap Original 100% Cotton Solid Baby Carrier, Navy Reviews November 23, 2008 Comfortable Carrier My son really liked this as a newborn and I liked how it didn't kill my back like all the other carriers did. It can be a little difficult to put on and I often have trouble getting it tight enough but overall I think it's great. My baby is four months now and doesn't seem to like it much anymore but that could just be him.
August 25, 2008 So comfy for mom and baby! I love this carrier! I used a Baby Bjorn for my other children and purchased another for my new baby, but I wanted a Moby Wrap also. I never use the Baby Bjorn anymore, my son is 8 months old and since he was about 6 months old (about 18lbs.) the Baby Bjorn has caused back strain. The Moby has caused no back strain and my son is quite at ease in it. He does not like sitting in shopping carts so in order to get my grocery shopping done I put him in the Moby and he is quite content and often falls asleep in it. I also use the Moby to go on walks, since carrying an extra 20lbs. around is great exercise! Coffee got spilled on my instructions so I went to the Moby website and followed the instructions there, but now I do not need them and I can put the carrier on as fast as the Baby Bjorn, it is really not difficult. I love the soft fabric and definitely recommend this carrier!!
April 8, 2008 Loved this product !!! This was my third baby carrier and I have to admit I LOVE THIS ONE! My son is 20lbs and he just turned 6 months. Many other carriers put all the weight on your neck or back but this one spreads it out. I almost forget that I have a huge baby strapped to me! And he LOVES to snuggle in there! The soft material doesnt tear or itch his soft skin. i would recommend this product to anyone!
March 25, 2008 Once it's on, it's GREAT! I am a mother to a 20-month old and a 3-month old and have tried so many slings and wraps, it's ridiculous. This is by far my favorite to date. Here are some pros and cons:
Cons: -- SOOOOO much fabric! It is difficult to handle it all and it drags on the ground (or parking lot) when you are trying to get it on. It must be at least 15 feet long. -- Scared to wash it because there is a fold in the fabric (along the long edge) and I am afraid the crease will wash out and I'll have to try to iron it back in. What a hassle that would be. -- Not worth putting on for short-term use. I would not bother if I plan to use it for 15 minutes or less.
Pros: -- Once it's on, it is so comfortable, you can hardly feel it--really! Even after an hour, I have no shoulder or back pain. At all! It's practically miraculous. I always put my baby in it to grocery shop, which takes at least an hour each time (we walk to the grocery store and back). I have both hands free to push my older daughter in her stroller and to shop and my baby just sleeps the whole time. -- It's versatile. You can use it to carry your babies in front of you, on your hip, on your back, etc. -- Both my daughters love it and can stand to be in it for a loooong time. -- It is very supportive for my baby who still needs some neck support. Her head flopped around too much in both the Snugli and the Baby Bjorn. -- If you tie the fabric off in the back, you can cover (or feel like you're covering) the bulk of your post-baby butt. -- It did not work great for nursing, but that may be my inexperience in using this type of wrap. I do use the fabric to cover up if I'm nursing in public, but have to remove it to do that.
I HIGHLY recommend this wrap. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I wish the pros could be accomplished with a lot less fabric.
January 19, 2008 If you're baby wants to be with you 24/7 Buy This! I was really frustated with how I couldn't get ANYTHING done because my baby wanted me to hold him constantly. So I decided to give this a try. He really likes this and doesn't complain a bit! He has even fallen asleep as I have been vacuuming a few times. This is my 4th baby and I wish I would have had this sooner than now. My baby is now almost 6 months old and he loves it! It is not complicated at all. I followed the instructions and it only took me about 3 times to get it down really well. I was worried about my back, but it is tons better than packing him around in my arms! And there are no buttons, snaps, that could irritate your baby legs, very conforming to baby's body. You can't bend over to do like dishes and pick things up, but it's great to give you extra time to cruise around the house (vacuuming, making food, store shopping etc.) I would highly recommend this for someone that they're baby wants to be attached to you 24/7! It really has helped me!
January 7, 2008 I'm a baby bjorn convert!! I agree with the first reviewer -- wish I'd had the Moby wrap the first time around! After giving birth, stomach muscles are shot (no matter how many crunches you do, I don't care who you are), and the Bjorn made my back ache after a short time of wearing. With the Moby, weight is more evenly distributed (across shoulders and back) and it is the most comfortable way of carrying baby I've found. It's also incredibly stylish and functional; it comes with an illustrated guide to more than 5 different ways of wrapping and wearing baby and its full coverage over the shoulders and across the back keeps the wearer warm, too. You can wear baby until he's a preschooler; the Bjorn's weight limit is around 20 pounds I think. It's also possible to breastfeed while wearing baby, but it does take some practice to master. I give this four stars because the only minus is that I think it's not really a unisex product -- my husband, as I assume most men would, prefers the Bjorn. The Moby is more time-consuming to get on (with practice about one minute) than the Bjorn (about 3 seconds, no practice necessary).
January 2, 2008 Heavenly! Tried every other sling-found a keeper! I LOVE this sling! I have tried almost every sling available-Bjorn, Ergo, ring slings, Maya, front carriers, and other crazy get ups. I definitely had my doubts when it came to this one. It looked so darn comfy in the pics that I had to give it a try. I admit that when I first unrolled it out of its tiny packaging, I was intimidated. I read the book, looked at the pictures and tried to mimic such positions as the "hug hold" and "kangaroo" with not much luck. This wrap was clumsy, way too long, and hard for one person to put it on. Yes, this is a positive review and I told you that I loved it so...then I figured out that because it is the perfect length and width of fabric you can make up your own positions and "tie" your baby into place however you want them! I learned this after my 2 week old DD went to sleep in an upright position on my chest. I eyed the Moby and wrapped her in place immediately. Sure, it was clumsy at first and I didn't know where to tug and tuck all of the fabric, but that was the beauty of it! The fabric has just the right amount of give and is not too slippery and is breatheable. By the third try I had Moby in my command and I have wrapped my DD to me in all sorts of crazy positions. On my chest, on my side, and even while she was breastfeeding one time. LOVE THIS WRAP!
November 26, 2007 Great if you can get the hang of it When I can actually get the wrap tied correctly it's brilliant. I seem to have more trouble than average getting the thing tied correctly. I either have it too snug so baby and me feel like we're in shrink wrap or it's too loose and I end up wearing baby around my waist and I have loose fabric everywhere. For this reason I find myself not using it as much as I'd like to.
For those with "high need" babies this is great. When I do have it on correctly and can lull the little one he will sleep and sleep wrapped on me.
The one caveat is my little guy doesn't like his head held down (infant hug hold) and he doesn't have good head control yet so I end up holding his head with one hand. I can't wait for him to try some of the other positions when he's older and can hold his head on his own.
November 10, 2007 Wish I didn't wait so long! This product is fabulous! I was reluctant to purchase the Moby wrap because I'm not that coordinated with slings and was afraid I'd fail miserably with this product. That was not the case at all! The guide shows easy to follow pictures and written instructions and although I expected to have to try it a few times before being successful both my baby and I were pleased the very first try! I love how the weight of the baby is distributed and there are so many different positions available with one sling!
October 21, 2007 Great product This is a great wrap. Even my husband will wear it! It does take a bit of practice getting it on though, and it's REALLY hot. I don't recommend it as your primary sling for the hottest months of the year. It will be great this fall though!
