User Submitted Peg Perego Primo Viaggio Infant Car Seat in Moka Reviews January 5, 2009 Love this car seat!!! My son loves his car seat and so do I. Yes, it is a little bit heavier than the Graco I had with my daughter (now 6) but this seat is so much safer. My son does not have any trouble sitting in the seat, is not uncomfortable in it, and if the seat is installed properly there should not be a problem with tipping forward. It is easy to get in and out of the car and on and off the base. We have a base in each car and that makes everything easier. I also have the Aria stroller (both in the green bubbles) and I get tons of compliments. It can be tricky getting the car seat to click on the stroller but we're getting used to it. The "horse blinders" do not bother my son who is now 3 months old and I can see how they would keep his head safer in an accident. I am glad the seat goes up to 30 pounds as it should last us the year. I was nervous getting the car seat after reading all of the negative reviews on here but I have been very happy with it.
December 5, 2008 Somewhat regret the purchase.... My son is now 6 months old and I have just purchased a new convertible carseat to replace this one. There are a few things wrong with this car seat: -> while very safe, it is not high on the comfort level. When I look at other car seats they look as if they considered comfort. Not here. My DS hates getting into this seat. -> The color of the side impact - very dark and very hot in the summer months
While I love the stroller that i Purchased (Aria) since it is so light - this seat is so heavy that I never carry it out of the car anymore. This is my first baby - I am not certain that I will use this car seat for a second one. I would suggest not to buy this sight unseen and without really shopping. We bought it because Peg Perego "travel system" only works with their car seats.
November 6, 2008 WARNING to anyone with this car seat!!!
WARNING to all owners newer model Peg Perego SIP 30/30 Infant Seats. It has two major defects.
1> Defective part causes cuts on baby's heels and legs. 2> Defective latch can cause seat to fall out of Pliko P3 stroller and have baby land on ground.
Peg Perego's SIP 30/30 Infant seat is defective and they have not made registered customers aware of it. They are not taking responsibility for the safety of the children using this seat. They have been aware of the first issue since the beginning of summer 2008.
The first issue with the seat causes cuts. We discovered lacerations on our son's ankles for over a month but could not figure out what was causing them. On a road trip we discovered a large bleeding gash on the back of his ankle about ¼ the size of a DIME. We traced the source to the SIP 30/30 car seat's plastic strap cover near the feet. There was blood on the cover and the edges were sharp enough to cut my finger. When I called Peg Perego, it took over an hour to get through to their customer service. Once I did, I discovered over 50 children have already been injured and they anticipate FOUR THOUSAND seats could have this issue. DO NOT follow their instructions to remove the plastic cover until receiving the replacement. The metal latch further cut up the back of our son's legs while waiting for the part. It took almost 4 DAYS to get the part from them instead of shipping it priority overnight.
It is Peg Perego's RESPONSIBILITY to inform registered seat users of this dangerous issue, yet they have done NOTHING to warn people. Not even an e-mail. They plan to ship the parts when they have replacement. It has been almost 5 months since they first learned about the issue. How many more children will be injured before they make the public aware of this defect. Since discovering this issue, I have told every parent I see with this car seat about this issue. Their response is normally "I was wondering where those cuts where coming from."
The second issue with the seat is latching into Peg Perego's Pliko P3 stroller. The infant seat has two possible latch points. We attached the seat to the stroller using the outside latch. We heard both sides of the seat "click" as explained. While pushing the cart the infant seat fell off the stroller and landed on the sidewalk with our son head down and screaming. We were lucky the stroller wasn't stopped by a street where it could have fallen in front of a car. The fact it can even latch to something that will not hold the seat, much less EASILY latch, is a SERIOUS design defect that is extremely dangerous to children. It could be fatal.
Peg Perego needs to take responsibility for their poorly designed products and let people know about these issues. Hopefully as a buyer you will review this and evaluate if their products are safe for your children before buying and they are injured.
If I could give this product less than 1 star, I would.
September 29, 2008 disappointing I purchased carseat months before baby was born and only used it a couple of times during her first 2 months. The seams started coming apart during the first couple of months of use. When I called customer service to request a new cover they told me that I'd have send my receipt of purchase and pictures of the defective product. I was not inclined to put together a package proving the defect in my newborn sleep deprived state and therefore decided to keep the poor product. Just a couple of months later the pieces that hold the hood on popped out.
Between the shoddy craftsmanship and difficult customer service, I'd go to another brand of travel system next time.
September 2, 2008 Muy buena silla pra bebes Es una excelente silla para coche, comoda, fácil de colocar y en general excelente producto.
May 18, 2008 Looks great but VERY heavy!!! After I had used a Graco for the first two kids I though it would be nice to upgrade since I love their strollers. It is a very nice car seat that gets lots of compliments, especially together with the matching stroller. However, I must say this is the heaviest car seat I have ever encountered. I know it has a higher weight limit, but it is quite hard to carry it around, even out of the car into the house (especially since my 4 month old is on the heavy side). If I would have tried it out in the store first I might have not bought it. It is also definitely bigger, and installed in the rear facing position it takes up so much space that I had to install it behind my passenger seat with it almost all the way forward - and I do not have a small car. So be aware of this before you buy it! I guess once you turn it around that problem will be solved, but that is still 8 months off in my case.
Otherwise, very intuitive. I especially love the easy adjustable height.
April 7, 2008 Safe Secure and Trustworthy I like this car seat . But It is Heavier than any of the other 2 infant seats I have had .I will only probably carry for first 4 months . After that I will carry baby minus seat. Most of weight is however in base that stays in car. It is like 2 pds maybe heavier than a graco or evenflo . But I do Like the shade . It goes up until 30 pds . And It is really comfy and cushiony. and it locks into a pliko . I would recommend if you are safety concious and have extra money to spend. You will use it for 1 yr. I will use it around the home to .Or while I shower.
March 23, 2008 Top of the line - finest materials and features. This is as good as it gets in car seats. A small premium to your average car seat provides terrific fabrics, comfort features and styling. Goes right onto my Skate.
March 9, 2008 IMO, overrated I went on reviews when purchasing this as we have no local stores that sell Peg products. After i received it, I returned it a day later. I have a couple peg strollers that I am pretty happy with so I thought I'd get the car seat for compatibility. As far as pros go, the fabric on this is gorgeous and the overall appearance is very contemporary. The strap height is very easy to adjust and the strap length appears to have plenty of room for growth. It is a bit heavy but that is to be expected for a seat with the 30 lb weight limit. As for the cons, it's supposedly highly rated for safety due to the extended side protectors around the head. These side impact protectors, that have a long flap that extends all the way down the back of the seat is not removable so my 3 month old son, who is in the 90th percentile for wt/ht, looked bunched up and uncomfortable. They would be great for when he is very young, but when he gets bigger and older, I don't see him tolerating these big "wings" on either side of his head that look like horse blinders. Also, I can just see how hot and stuffy they would become this summer. They seem to take up so much room in the seat and would probably make things a bit cramped as he grew. The pictures of this seat make it appear there is a lot of room in between those "wings" but when I put my son it the seat, the sides of his head nearly touched them both. The back of the seat didn't have much padding as it was only covered by that black flap (refer to the picture of this seat above) which isn't that thick. I lifted it up to see if it was removable and realized that it was all there was between hard plastic and my son's back. The buckle was a bit tricky to do but I think with practice, it would be manageable (as with our britax roundabout buckle). And these car seats do not even come with the winter boots anymore. I really wanted to like this car seat but couldn't find anything about this seat that makes it at least $100 more than other car seats rated to 30 lbs. There are other safe car seats on the market that are much less expensive. I think after seeing this in person, I feel it's just overpriced for what it offers and you may just be paying for the Peg name.
