User Submitted Phil and Ted's MeToo Chair - Black Reviews December 30, 2008 Great-looking portable high chair alternative but not perfect We loved this when we first bought it - it looks great in our contemporary style kitchen and doesn't take up much space. It is also very easy clean - wipe down with a wet soapy cloth and you're done in a few minutes. Finally, and the best feature probably - it is very easy to travel with - folds flat and fits well in a packed suitcase. It's been indispensible for trips to Grandma's house.
My complaints: We have used this heavily for maybe 10 months now and it is starting to show wear. Not sure if it would hold up to a second kid. Also, the rubber pad on one of the metal clamps came off. We never got around to gluing it and lost the piece. It is now not as stable and marks up the table if we don't put carboard under the one side.
Finally and more importantly, the straps are poorly designed. They are pretty much useless. My son has been able to stand up and climb out of this thing since he was 7 or 8 months old. It is a shame because otherwise it is a pretty good product. We always have to carefully watch him while he is sitting in this because of this issue.
December 13, 2008 Replace your dirty old high chair with this amazing one! I was really anxious to get rid of our old highchair because it had been through three kids and I was sick of having to move it around the kitchen to sweep underneath. We were also having a problem with my 14-month old boy, who wouldn't sit down in his high chair. My sister-in-law recommended this high chair to me and told me it should solve both problems. When the Phil & Ted's Me Too chair came in the mail, I couldn't believe how small it was! It is the perfect highchair for babies who are quickly turning into toddlers because they can't really stand up in it. I love that I can take it with me to grandma's house, restaurants, church dinners...everywhere. (Be prepared for everyone to stop and ask you where you bought it.) The Me Too highchair takes up almost no room in my kitchen and sweeping underneath is quick and simple. I also love how I can throw it in the dishwasher to clean it.
December 13, 2008 We absolutely LOVE this chair! We got this chair to use at my parents' house, and we've also started bringing it with us to restaurants. It works fabulously! It folds up and fits in our diaper bag for easy transportation, it hooks onto most tables (as long as they're not too thick, and I wouldn't use it on the end of a pedestal table that might tip), and it's easy to put on securely and take off quickly. We love using it in restaurants because the little wooden high chairs they provide there tend to be both icky and unsafe. We can position our little guy in a booth or over a chair, and he's safe and out of the way of the servers. He also tends to stay interested in what's going on, being right at the table. In short, this was a great purchase for us.
November 19, 2008 Best seat ever! What did I ever do without this seat??? It's compact to travel with, it fits on my island which has a narrow lip, and it's easy to clean. I recommend it to ALL mothers!
November 18, 2008 be careful make sure when you use this type of product that your child is light weight. AND that the table you attach it to is one you don't mind scratching. I bought a similar attachable chair and found that our table has a 3+ inch piece of wood about 2 inches under the table top that caused a huge problem with attching the chair. Once attached it scratched the wood terribly due to the weight and wiggling of the grandchild. Putting a towel under the clamps compromised the grip. this product will work on a metal/plastic table that has a single width top.
November 18, 2008 Excellent for everyday We had a booster seat that was ruining a nice dining room chair and couldn't live with the enormity of all the free-standing high chairs on the market. We discovered this thing and have never looked back. Other "travel" chairs were either flimsy, bulky or ugly -- or all three! This thing is simple, understated, very small and perfectly engineered. I attached this to the edge of our kitchen table and it locks down totally tight and secure. It folds down so small that it really does fit in a diaper bag -- totally portable. But so far, it has not moved from our kitchen. Mainly, it is an extremely compact space-saving gadget that is rock solid and safe -- and comfortable. Our baby has protested every time he as been put into a traditional high chair and never really liked the booster seat. He is clearly at ease in this chair. The low back and lack of padding are totally a non-issue. The material is very easy to just wipe down on occasion with a sponge. If you want a terrific counter or table chair that truly saves space this is it.
November 16, 2008 OK, but nothing is perfect We bought this instead of a high chair for our then 5 months old and it works OK. She does not like sitting straight in it though, so we stuff the back with towels to make it more comfortable for everyone. It has some cold metal exposed where it attaches to the table, but it has never been a problem. We love it and we love it that it is portable.
November 5, 2008 Terrific Chair We bought this chair to use at restaurants because I hate the highchairs available: (1) they're usually very dirty; and (2) waitstaff have to lean over your child to serve all items (including hot coffee). This chair allowed my daughter to sit next to me in a booth, which she absolutely loved. It's lightweight and easy to transport and install. On a few occasions, we were unable to use the seat because the restaurant table was too thick, but this was so rare that I can't complain. AWESOME chair. It is supposed to work to 40 pounds, but my 30 pound 18-month-old is starting to get a bit big for it. I'll be very disappointed to stop using it.
November 3, 2008 Must Have Item!!! If I could rate all of the many, many items you have to use the first year, I would put this at the top of the list. It is by far one of my favorite. I am so glad to not have a big highchair intruding on our kitchen space. We will use this until we move on to a booster seat. It is so easy to clean and to travel with. Everyone who sees it in our house loves it and wishes they had used something like this. You just can't beat the price and convienence of it.
October 18, 2008 The best chair ever~ I am very happy with the Phil and Ted's MeToo chair, I just wish that I would have had one months ago. My son loves being able to sit with us at meal time instead of being off in the corner in a highchair. I give it 2 thumbs up!
