Avent Bottles
I love these bottles, and am even happier now that Avent came out with a BPA Free version. The bottles are very versitile and easy to use. The only time that I had a problem with the bottle leaking is when I did not put the top on properly. If you tighten them down to hard, they will leak, as the instruction say. You just need to tighten them until they are snug. My son is now 20 months old and we still use the bottles for his food, which helps on the amount of "kid" stuff that clutters up my cabinets. I pop in the stopper in place of the nipple and voila, instant snack cup. The 4oz are a perfect size for small snacks and fit everywhere. I would totally recommend these to any new Mom.

The only bottle that I did not like one bit was the magic cup. This thing leaked everywhere. Liquid would come out of the vent whole and around the sipper nozzle when the cup was standing up...without my son drinking out of it. If you are looking for a great sippy, try the Nuby or Foogo brand. I have several different ones and they are GREAT!!! They are also BPA Free.

BPA free Avent Bottles
Bpa safe baby bottles, safe for my baby.
I had the regular avent bottles, and I was happy with them, but seeing that averyone was freaking out on the BPA issue, I have decided to join the movement and changed to BPA free, but I stick with Avent products because baby likes them, they are safer in the hands of my baby than a glass bottle:)

Beware! Expensive Leaky bottles. Dont waste your money.
I started using Avent bottles last year when my son was born. They had great bottles, very easy and convenient to use. They never once leaked on me, which is why I got really sad when they had to be recalled in Canada due to the BPA issue. Then I switched to Born free bottles for the meantime since they were the next best thing out there when it comes to baby bottles (at least according to me).

When the new Avent BPA-free bottles came out, I was extremely happy. Little did I know that I was in for a big disappointment. The new bottles are leaky. The first time I used one of the bottles, I had it filled with water and kept it in my diaper bag. When I had to take it out to make some milk I noticed that my bag was wet on the side where the bottle was and so are some of my son's things. Also I have to constantly check for leaking before I give my son his bottle. It takes a lot of screwing and unscrewing the cap before the leaking finally stops. There are times though that I am not successful. It gets really frustrating because I have to do this everytime time I feed him. And believe me you don't want to go through all these when you've one hungry screaming baby. With the old Avent bottles, I never check for leaks because they NEVER leaked. I don't understand why the old bottles worked so well and the new ones don't.

They're a complete waste of money. The only good thing about this experience probably is that I actually decided to try them out first(eventhough I have used Avent before)before buying more. Now I'm fully switching to Born free bottles. They're about the same price range as the BPA-fee Avent and I think they're better. You never have to worry about leaking specially if you're in a hurry. I'm never buying from Avent again.

Gerber Does BPA-Free Better
I have an Avent pump and some of their original bottles, so I thought I'd give these a try when switching to all bpa-free bottles. The reason I am giving these such a low rating is they are a poor value at $8.50 each. I brought these home, but decided to keep looking. I found Gerber GentleFlow, which are also bpa-free, were much better in two BIG ways: (1) cost-value (at $2.20 each for the Gerber bottles, you save over $6 per bottle); and (2) performance (I can shake/mix powdered formula in the bottle without worrying about the leaking problem that the Avent bottles have). The first time I shook formula in the Avent bottles, it went all over the place. Each time I used the Avent bottles, I'd have to test the seal over the kitchen sink and readjust as necessary. I have not had the same problem with the Gerber bottles which are the same shape and size as the Avent bottles. You can use Avent nipples in them without any negative effects. The only noticable difference is the Gerber bottles are made from a cloudy colorless plastic rather than the golden crystal clear plastic that Avent uses. I do think the Avent plastic looks better, but was not worth the huge difference in price, not to mention the Avent's disappointing leaks. Unfortunately, the Gerber GentleFlow bottles are not carried in many stores, so I ended up ordering them directly from Gerber.

Leaky
These bottles leak. They sometimes do not but then they leak again. I am perplexed as to why these bottles are so terrible.

Excellent
I have read repeatedly about parents complaining about Avent bottles leaking, yet I still have not had any leaking problems with my Avent products (I am a mother of two!).

If you are like me and like the wider bottles and prefer plastic over glass, I think this is a great choice.

Of note, the bottles all have a honey tint - the bottles appear slightly brown in different angles. I believe this is because of the BPA free material they use.

I recommend them.

Peace of mind
We bought these to replace all the previous bottles we had for our daughter. Just knowing the do not have BPA was worth the extra cost.

Finally Avent BPA Free!
I used the avent bottles when my now 6 month old baby was born, until I changed due to BPA. I bought a pair at Target to try them out and they are great! I forgot how much I missed the avent bottles! At first, I had a problem with leaking, but in order for them not to leak, you have to screw them tight, but not too tight! I love that they come in 3 different sizes and have so many nipple sizes, too. They are also really easy to clean. I wish that the weren't so expensive and because of that, I am probably just going to stick with the two that I have for awhile.

Leaky Bottles
I used Dr Browns with my first son and there were lots of parts to clean and sterilize. My son was colicky and I'm not sure that Dr Browns helped. So when pregnant with our second child, I took the cue from my sister and registered for Avent bottles. I really liked them. Our daughter isn't as gassy as our son (don't know if the bottle has anything to do with it or it's just the way she is). The bottles are very easy to clean, fewer parts... and easy to sterilize too, with its own microwaveable sterilizer. So when I read about the BPA issue, I bought the Avent BPA-free bottles. I am so frustrated with them because they leak. I rarely swear but there have been nights when trying to feed my daughter that I did. I'm stuck with the bottles now so there's nothing I can do about them. But I'm writing this review (which I rarely do) so people will know not to buy the bottles.

Finally! ...and no leaks.
Finally Avent has a decent BPA free bottle. I have the Isis pump and all the other Avent bells and whistles, but had to switch to Dr. Brown's BPA free bottles. Dr. B's are good, but a PAIN to clean. I picked up 2 Avent BPA-free bottles at Target to give them a try after reading the mixed reviews. I am ordering more from Amazon - they work great, just like the regular polycarbonate bottles. I think the trick to fixing a leak issue is twofold: Make sure the nipple is "snapped" in and (most important) don't over-tighten the nipple and collar onto the bottle. Over-tightening WILL cause leaks. A decent "finger tight" turn will do. I only gave these 4 stars because of price. I wish they would have made polypropylene bottles (the translucent plastic) - they would have been cheaper. But, I guess having good, BPA-free bottles that work seemlessly with all the stuff I already have, are super-easy to clean, and are NOT made in China is worth the extra cost.
