User Submitted Philips Avent Isis iQ UNO Reviews September 20, 2008 sucky pump this is a sucky pump... a waste of money. the electronic part of this pump sucks, i could barely pump enough. but they give you a conversion kit that lets you turn it into a manual pump that works well. the manual pump is just tiring to use. spend your money elsewhere!!! this pump is a waste of time!!!!
May 14, 2008 Okay buy, but should have researched more This pump is great, although they make it sound so much better! Everything worked correctly and efficiently but the Avent bottles that you have to use with it tend to leak (all of them, it's not just a fluke!). I bought the 4oz and 9oz bottles and milk storage bottles, the pump, etc and for the price of everything.. I really wish I would have spent the time to reseach other systems. It is definetly not worth the price you pay. And you CANNOT switch out with other bottles. When I started using the bottles when my baby was about 3-4 weeks old I found that he was swallowing a lot of air and the latch on was not so easy for him.. he had a very hard time switching from bottle to breast. I have since had much better luck with another brand of bottle.
April 14, 2008 Awesome product I bought the Avent Isis iQ last month because I decided to start donating my breastmilk to babies in need. I had previously been using the Avent Isis manual, which I also liked but I wanted something a little more efficient. It's so nice to be able to do something other than just sit while pumping and no more hand cramps! It does take me longer to pump than with the manual, but I get a lot more using the iQ- my first time using it I got 2oz more than normal. Well worth the price.
April 9, 2008 Warning! Avent Bottles Are Made Using BPA Bisphenol-A I liked Avent Bottles, my daughter Liked them too! Then I found out about Bisphenol -A being used to make the Bottles. After re-searching Bisphenol -A, I discovered that exposing my baby to harmful chemicals with the potential for long term affects later in life, was definitely not for me!! There are other options out there, all glass bottles are safe, as well as Born Free, Mam by Sassy, Green to Grow and Adrini. Do your own research. I'm really surprised the non Bisphenol -A Free bottles haven't been recalled yet! I'm sure it's just a matter of time, before enough people are educated.
January 23, 2008 Great Product for the Price Just writing a quick review to let all interested know this is a great pump for the price! With my first son (about 7 yrs. ago) I bought the Avent manual pump, definately wouldnt recommend that. I needed a pump that worked but couldnt afford a really nice one and knew Medela had a good name. I couldnt afford the dual electric pump and ended up buying the swing pump. It worked but it took FOREVER and i could never get hardly anything, so i just pretty much gave up on pumping:( Now with my third son I decided to try pumping again and read all of the reviews for the Avent Isis iQ and eventually decided to give it a try and was very pleased. I get a fair amount more milk much quicker and you can customize the pumping cycle. You have a ton of control over how everything works and can customize it to the way your body works. It is still pumping and it still takes longer than i would like but i definitely feel that my time spent is worth it now rather than a waste. It is a very good product and i would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a breat pump. Oh also, you have the option to use batteries or plug it in so that is really nice as well:):) Good luck!!!
January 12, 2008 electric breast pump I love this product! Easy to assemble (though I do wish one day the manufacturers will lessen parts to the product) and easy to use! It is a must have for stay-at-home-moms or the career-oriented moms.
December 27, 2007 This pump is dang near useless. This pump does not work. It's suction is very low. It is hard to clean and takes an hour to get about 2 oz. of milk. I'm the father of the baby and I'm writing this because my wife is very upset with the pump. She hates it and now I will have to buy a new one. Thank you Avent for creating fake reviews to sell your pump. Very clever.
December 24, 2007 Better than the rest I used a Medela Hospital rental ($50+ a month!!!) when i realized it would be cheaper to BUY this one. I really like it. It is MUCH better than the hard plastic Medela. I find the comfort 'cushion' a must have. I use it occasionally and haven't had any suction issues. I have no idea how well it would hold up if used everyday but it does come with extra seals to maintain suction (and you can order more). The ONLY reason i didn't give it 5 stars is because I use it only occasionally (1-2 times a week) so I'm not sure about it's durability.
December 2, 2007 Very comfortable but relatively slow and definitely not durable I purchased this pump with intention to use it when I pump at work. I rarely used it for more than once a day (but I would use it to pump both breasts with it) and I used it in burst-like fashion: I would use it for a month every day at work, then I would not use it for 3 weeks (I have pump in style by Medela so I switch between the two). I owed it for more than 5 months now, but I think I accumulated slightly over 2.5 months of use once a day.
I definitely think it is more comfortable and gentle than the Pump in style, and it is also quite practical for taking along - both on trips and on work once you can afford to pump once. In addition, I really like the manual pump bonus - because when you are in the hurry - it is a life saver.
At the same time, it is slower than the Pump in Style (even at top speed), the "IQ" button pumps at 70% of the speed you programmed it to do. The connector between the pump and the power supply tends to be loose and when that happens the pump restarts itself and sometimes has problem creating vacuum again. I loved the idea of battery pack, but you cannot really use it as a long-term solution - batteries drain out in 2 pumping (forget about 6 they talk about).
The reliability of the device seems to be a problem. First, the funnel (body) melted for me in Avent Sterilizer (I did forget to add water but it was 3 am, and Medela funnel which was in the same sterilizer at the same time did not melt or show any problems). Second, couple of times, the motor of the pump would just not work (regardless of the power connection) - it fails to create vacuum and makes strange noise, but after few restarts - it would work just fine. The Avent customer care was great when I had to replace the body of the device - but I do not what will they do when I contact them about the actual pump.
If you are sensitive, I think that even with all this, this is a great pump.
August 30, 2007 I love it!!! I had been using the Medala mini-electric pump for a couple of weeks and ended up in tears after each use. It was extremely painful and I would struggle to get just a few ounces.
I finally went out and bought the avent isis iq uno...I absolutely love it. It was easy to use (some people have complained about the number of part....but I dont know why) and the first time using it I was able to pump about 12 ounces!!!! And wasnt at all painful...I could barely even feel anything. Also, it is extremely quiet, especially for an electric.
And the battery pack feature is great for when you are on the go. Also, the manual that comes with it works quite well...not as good as using the electric, but still good.
