User Submitted Safety 1st Clear View Stove Knob Covers 5-Pack Reviews October 15, 2008 Gets the job done I am always afraid my 11 month old will turn the knobs on the stove since he is walking. These are alittle oversized but easy for adults to open and he doesn't bother with them. Gets the job done.
August 26, 2008 They work for my boys This work fine for keeping my 2 1/2 year old from turning on the stove. He'll spin them around, but it doesn't turn the stove knobs at all when he does. The only problem I have is leaving one upen while I'm using it, then bumping into it and breaking it. So I'm buying some more to replace a couple I've broken, and for spares. I figure it's worth it, since on my stove, with my kids, they work well.
August 1, 2008 Not bad So far so good. Our 1 year old daugther started spinning them around. Good for younger kids who can reach the oven knobs. Not sure if they will do the job when she gets older.
April 15, 2008 3 out of 5 ain't bad?? I was excited to get "new and improved" covers for my stove knobs since my 1 year old son is much more curious than my daughter ever was! But, now, within 2 months of getting them, I only have 3 that work. One of the hinges melted causing the product to not open. We do use the broil once a week or so, but shouldn't the product be able to withstand heat? And more recently one came apart and the pin was not installed correctly to start with and we are trying to fix it. What a hassle. I do like the newer version of these they are much easier to use, we'll see if my son gets the hang of it too. I may have gotten a bad batch.
January 16, 2008 They work! Believe it or not we had to buy these knobs because of our DOG! He kept turning on the stove while trying to see if there was any food left out. We are now expecting our first baby and I suspect these will provide double duty protection for the dog AND the baby. The knobs on our stove are pretty tough to pull of, so I don't foresee that being an issue. Either way, I'd rather have the knob pulled off than have the gas turned on accidentally.
January 11, 2008 DOES THE JOB Have used these since my son started to walk and after the initial interest in them (as in anything new) he was bored of them, realizing they were difficult for him to open. He occassionally spins one, but they deterred him enough that he doesn't care about the stove anymore. And they are a snap for me to open, and I have never had to pull the stove knob off--not sure what people are talking about there....
December 5, 2007 These work wonderful! They fit loosely on the knobs so they just spin when little hands are exploring. They open easily for me when I cook and I haven't had any issues with mine melting or breaking. Maybe Safety First has made some improvements since some of these reviews??? I've had mine for about a year with a (now) 2 and a 3 year old who are both very active and very curious. They give me those few extra moments to get to them and steer them away from the stove and back to where they are supposed to be without them being able to turn on the gas or having the stove light.
March 12, 2007 TERRIBLE!!!! I just bought the knobs and they are terrible!!!! I have so much trouble opening them. DO NOT BUY IT!!!! IT'S A WASTE OF MONEY, it's better to just remove all knobs off your stove and use one when you need it.
July 29, 2006 Worked OK for us We have a GE XL44 gas stove. Installation was all of ten seconds. We have a "crawler" not yet "toddler". So far, he can just reach the knobs and can't get enough leverage from that angle to do anything. For us it's pretty easy to open and close the covers to use the burners.
March 26, 2006 Knob Covers They serve the purpose of not letting children turn the knobs. The only thing i did not like about his product was that on my stove when you wanted to cook something you have to pull the knob off with the cover on it. Then open the knob cover to get the knob out to put back on the stove.
