Our comfortable security harness has a 4" strap that allows your toddler freedom to explore while still remaining close to you. Slips on easily and fastens in the back for easy adjusting. The wrist strap can also be used separately. Lightweight and washable.
User Submitted Sure Steps Safety Harness Reviews July 9, 2008 Great! Great item. I was worried what people would think but my 16 month old is an olympic sprinter and can get away from me very quickly. Now that I have it I feel much safer with her out in busy places when she wants to get out ad walk. She doesn't seem to mind having it on at all! I have received a couple of comments but most people who have children totally understand! I kind of wish it didn't use velcro to keep it done up as I wonder how long that will last...velcro tends to get less strong over time, but right now it works great.
July 9, 2008 Sure Steps Walking Harness/NOT RECOMMENDED This harness was fastened with velcro which would not hold my three year old Grandson. It was off in under a minute.
July 1, 2008 Description Description: Approximately 1" that goes around the chest. Straps over the shoulders. Clip on the back. Velcro and loop on either ends of 4' "leash" Leash could also be used as wrist strap.
Exactly as picture shows. Thank you.
May 2, 2008 Great Investment for Child Safety We had another harness for my son and the clasps broke so it wouldn't stay on. I saw this product, which while not the same does a similar thing, and I'm glad that we bought this one it's a lot more durable and the straps are longer so it fits more comfortably on him and he's not complaining about it.
I love that we can let him walk with us at the mall and out around town again without the risk of him running too far ahead or getting lost, or worse bolting out into the road and getting hit by a car.
I highly recommend this item.
December 3, 2007 Could be better... I purchased this harness to use in the airport with my 16 month old. It has to be pulled over the head to put on and the straps have to be loosened in order to remove the harness and then retightened when put back on. On a small child the excess strap is quite long and I had to make sure to tuck the ends under the chest strap, the webbing is stiff and gets kinks from being folded so the excess ends did not lie flat but would spring up unless tucked in. The edges of the harness material were dipped in a kind of melted plastic (to keep the webbing from unravelling), the melted plastic was rough and sharp in places and would not be comfortable against the skin. I decided that there were too many steps involved to use on a 16 month old while managing luggage what with ajusting/readjusting the straps, on/off over the head, and securing the wayward strap ends, so I bought a backpack buddy instead. It has soft fabric covering the straps, buckles in front, only needs adjusting once, easy on/off, has a cute animal "backpack", and nobody gave me strange looks for having my child on a leash.
December 2, 2007 Great for Airports and Shopping Malls I was able to get my wiggly toddler into the harness quickly and easily. I got lots of positive feedback from traveling parents and grandparents at each airport and had a child who was happy to have more freedom than she has in her stroller.
November 7, 2007 Very helpful and a good safety item I swore I would never use a "leash" for my kids but I broke down and bought this one. My son just turned 2 and although he is very good at holding hands in public, there are times when I need to let go of his hand. He will run every time. So I bought the Sure Steps mostly as a backup for when he tries to slip away. It comes in great at the airport and during a recent Halloween outdoor event. Maybe he's maturing, but I think that just him wearing the harness or wrist strap makes him think twice about taking off since he knows that now he can't get very far. I haven't really had any issues with the length like some people said.
May 23, 2007 Very valuable tool in a crowded airport I used my harness during a layover in JFK. It was invaluable.
May 15, 2007 Active child walking restraint My grandson is very active and will dart away before you can grab him. This strap keeps him close to me as we walk since he does not want to hold hands. I read in one other review prior to purchasing this particular model that the person felt the strap connected to the chest harness was not long enough but I purchased it anyway. I now agree that it would be helpful if it was somewhat longer. He starts to run and gets to the end of the strap quickly and stops abruptly, falling. It is a good product but really would be more beneficial if the strap would extend longer.
June 23, 2005 Awesome Product This product is amazing. It helped so much with my son. He hit his terrible twos early and the harness helped so much when going out of the house. We went on walks, went to the mall, and I even took it to the airport. It has really been a lifesaver. I really recommend this to anyone who has a kid that doesn't like being in the stroller and likes to roam around.
