Use your Tripp Trapp chair as soon as your child can sit up unassisted with the addition of this sturdy baby rail from Stokke, which provides extra support and security for children ages 6 to 24 months. Best of all, the Tripp Trapp chair with the baby rail accessory can be pulled right up to the dinner table -- allowing your little one to join the family at mealtime rather than being segregated by a high chair.
*Note: The Stokke Tripp Trapp chair with 5-point harness is sold separately. The Tripp Trapp Classic Chair and Tripp Trapp Trend Chair are not compatible with this accessory.
User Submitted Tripp Trapp Baby Rail Reviews September 26, 2008 A necessity for supported sitters This product is an absolute must if using the high chair with an infant, especially when the baby still needs a little bit of support to sit. The plastic seems durable, yet fragile at the same time. It does its job well, but you don't want to add extra stress to it. It's important to make the proper adjustments to the chair, as the instructions indicate, to keep from over-stressing the plastic. (Adjust the seat to extend out at 3/4" but no more than 2" from the frame.) The plastic is easy to wipe clean and keeps my baby secure in the chair.
July 30, 2008 My Stokke baby rail broke My Stokke baby rail broke. Please be aware before purchasing the Stokke Tripp Trapp high chair, that there are safer (and less-expensive) options out there. I thought I was giving my daughter the best by purchasing a "top-of-the-line" high chair, but I was really putting her in danger.
The flimsy, plastic baby rail which attaches to the seat of the chair via a think clip broke in half when my infant daughter leaned forward in the chair. My daughter then tumbled forward, hitting her head on the table in front of her and getting caught up in the harness. I do not think the baby rail was manufactured with the safety of children in mind, and I want to warn other parents before they make the same mistake.
Despite repeatedly calling and even sending pictures of the defective product, the company has refused to refund my purchase. When I called, the customer service representative mentioned that they have seen this happen on numerous occasions. So, why is this product still on the market?!
My anger regarding my child's fall as a result of this poorly-designed product and Stokke's complete disregard for the safety of the children it sells to has prompted me to write this review and warn others of the danger of the plastic baby rail that accompanies the Stokke high chair.
April 21, 2008 Great for infants We used this with my daughter when she first got the chair and used it till she was over a year old (till she could really handle being in the chair without anything around her) We loved it because it gave us the peace of mind that she could lean on it and if she moved at all that she had more than just the straps holding her in. Always found it easy to use and never pinched her anywhere, you just have to make sure when you push it up to a table that their hands are not in the way depending on the height of the table top. Looking forward to using this on a new chair with our next child!
April 7, 2008 great product I've had no problems with this rail. It's sturdier than I thought it would be, given the reviews. I tried to use the high chair without it, and I'm so glad I went back and bought it - so much easier to seat the child (mine is 1 year old). Just slip her in. I've had no problems with cracking. I'm curious what kind of plastic it is made of, though. Hopefully not PVC. Wish it was made of wood. It's cute - from certain angles, it looks like my baby is sitting in a little bucket.

December 21, 2007 A good design ruined by poor choice of material This would have been a great accessory for the Tripp Trapp chair were it not for the poorly-chosen material. Apparently, the baby rails sold in Europe are made of wood, whereas the ones available to the U.S. market appear to be some sort of melamine-like plastic. Although it seems very durable, it is surprisingly susceptible to cracking and chipping. We purchased ours about 6 months ago, and numerous small cracks have already developed along the front-facing edge. A small chunk has actually broken off, leaving a sharp-edged notch.
If enough customers report this problem to Stokke USA, maybe they will produce an improved version.
Follow-up (10/2008): Stokke replaced our baby rail with a new one. The new rail is tougher and seems unlikely to crack. Based on the new rail, I'd rate this product four stars.
December 8, 2007 Defective Item We purchased the Tripp Trapp Baby Rail from Happy Mothers two months ago. Unfortunately, the first baby rail cracked within a week and Stokke sent us a replacement which has started to crack as well. The crack is in front of the baby rail where our daughter can easily pinch herself. In our opinion, this item has a design defect.
December 3, 2007 A must for the Tripp Trapp Chair I bought the Tripp Trapp high chair thinking that I could use it with my nine-month old with just the harness that the chair comes with. WRONG! The baby rail is essential otherwise babies flop into uncomfortable positions that they cannot extricate themselves from. It should be sold with the chair in my opinion.
May 23, 2007 Just as perfect as the Tripp Trapp chair!! The material of the baby rail is soft (specially for 6 months babies) and very comfortable to put the baby into it. Is the perfect accesory of the Tripp Trapp chair.
