User Submitted Baby Santa's Music Box Reviews April 7, 2008 Great DVD! My boys LOVE this DVD. I only bring it out during the Holiday Season and it never fails to captivate them. They are 2 and 4 and still continue to enjoy this one.
November 17, 2006 Merry Baby Einstein Christmas! Baby Einstein's Baby Santa's Music Box One of the earlier releases in the now popular Baby Einstein video series, Baby Santa's Music Box is an unpolished version of the wonderful videos to come later in the collection. Relying more on music and visuals as the sole entertainment than some of the others, Baby Santa began the formula of the Baby Bach and Baby Beethoven videos with stimulating visuals set to music. Unlike the more advanced videos in the Baby Einstein series designed for older babies and toddlers, this one is entirely non-verbal and will appeal to infants as young as one month of age. Visuals rely heavily on the Baby Einstein Puppets albeit the earlier versions, visuals of ornaments and Christmas decorationas, animals playing in the snow, and lots and lots of children. The soundtack is holiday instrumental musical tunes from different countries around the world such as England, Ireland, France, Germany, Israel, Japan, and the United States yet all rendered in similar orchestration by the Baby Einstein Music Box Orchestra. Appropriate for ages 1 month and up, the simplicity of the video combined with some more engaging puppet visuals will likely entertain your baby until around the 18th month. The video is short, but you have the option to "repeat play" as well as play the music without the video.
Like most of the other videos in the Baby Einstein series, this one is designed as a `video board book' for your baby and offers you the opportunity to interact with your child in the same way you do with books as well as act as a distraction for that deeply needed parental bathroom break. Most of the DVDs in the series have the option to "play" or "repeat play" and are about 20-30 minutes in length -- the repetition being very stimulating and comforting to the younger set.
While I don't think viewing Baby Einstein DVDs will make my infant "smarter" she sure does enjoy them! They give me a great way to interact with her as well as a few minutes here and there to get a few things done around the house. Their ability to calm her when she's fussy is already legendary in our household.
Here is information on all the current 21 Baby Einstein DVDs including suggested times to introduce them to your little one. This information IS NOT available with the DVD sets but I gleaned it from several sources for my own use. You may like to print this out for future reference.
Note: All the Baby Einstein DVDs are "region 1" which means they only play on machines in the U.S. and Canada.

February 21, 2006 We love this video & can't stop watching it! My 16 month old son LOVES his "HO HO HO" video! Yes, it's simple & kinda slow, but for a toddler, it's perfect. He doesn't get any of the other Christmas shows out there yet, but he does get this one. We are big on Christmas in my family & this is just the first step in teaching my son the magic of the Holiday Season!
January 25, 2006 Disappointing! We are huge Baby Einstein fans, but this is very disappointing! The video is very short (yet doesn't cost any less than the others) and really lacks the creativity the other BE videos have. The music for this video is not up to usual BE standards and it is the only BE video our 15-month-old son walks away from! I would definitely NOT recommend buying it. Hopefully the Baby Einstein people won't make another mistake like this - it's annoying to spend money on something this second rate when you've come to expect more!
January 21, 2006 A great intro to Christmas We received this as a gift and from day one my son was entertained. This was his first Christmas season and because he is so young, we did not get out much. We thought this was a great introduction to the sights and sounds of Christmas. He loved just about everything in the video especially the children and babies. The sparkling ornaments and children dancing around made him laugh and talk. The music is really vibrant and the puppet shows are always a favorite. He loved the penguins and the polar bears...real and puppets. Great from start to finish!!
December 27, 2005 Sweet and entertaining My picky 11 month old and my 3 1/2 year old are both big fans of the original Baby Mozart. In fact, it was the only way I could get some time to shower for a while when the baby was around 6-8 months old! So, naturally, I look for other Baby Einstein DVDs at the library every time I go. I have tried many others, but it was not until Baby Santa that I found one that held my girls' attention like Baby Mozart. The music is traditional and peaceful and festive. We started watching it around Thanksgiving and it really got me in the holiday mood! Six weeks later and the baby is still as intrigued by it as she was the first time. I don't understand all the negative reviews...these are short videos b/c they are for babies! Are they boring for preschoolers? After a while, I would hope so! Still, having the backdrop of that music in the house is a nice alternative to some other annoying children's shows once in a while! Try it!
December 22, 2005 Beautiful True Christmas What's with all the negative comments. We love all the videos Baby Einstein has come out with. This one is no exception. The only difference between this one and every other BE video is this one has a Christmas theme!!!
My daugher got this for her first birthday last year, here we are over a year and still loving it. She laughs at that green box with the reindeer poping out.
Silent night is just beautiful with the animals and babies.
Very soothing and delightful to have playing in the house.
December 11, 2005 Lots of potential wasted What a waste! This could have been a great video, but it is not. What a perfect chance to identify objects of the season (like the animal ones that identify the animals), show the kids giving gifts to older people, the puppets preparing for santa, etc. This is what we were expecting but this BE does not deliver. The music is poor, the scenes are choppy and the kids are not doing anything interesting. The kids are in front of a blue or green screen like they were going to add a background but then decided not to. Very annoying! We own every BE in the series and this is the only one my daugthers will not sit through. Hopefully future BEs are not this bad!
December 7, 2005 I'm calling for a refund HORRIBLE!!! My 4 month old son cried (he's not a crier either) the whole time. It did not hold his interested, nor my 3 years old. We only have Baby Noah which has kept their interest, but this DVD is absolutely is the worse. DO NOT SPEND YOUR MONEY ON THIS! If you are looking for a holiday themed video, buy Mickey's Christmas. The colors are great and the songs too. It keeps both my little one occupied while I make dinner. However, baby Santa music box does not help develop my baby, just makes him mad at me for watching this horrible thing. I would say anyone that was interested could have my copy for free, but then I wouldn't want to torture you!
December 4, 2005 Don't Waste Your Money I bought this video since my 13-month old son absolutely loved the 2 other Baby Einstein videos we have. I also liked the idea of this one having a Christmas theme. Well don't waste your money...this video is terrible! After watching it twice with my son, it doesn't hold his interest at all like the others. It is poorly produced and just seems like something that was put together quickly just to make some quick cash during the holidays. The music selection is terrible (very slow and mundane) and the pictures and video are very, very generic.
If you must have this video for your child, check out E-bay first. I'll be selling mine really cheap!
