User Submitted Curious George (Widescreen Edition) Reviews November 12, 2008 So great! My 2 year old son LOVES this movie(my husband and I do too). The colors and animation are fabulous and we just can't get enough of that cute little monkey! I highly recommend this to parents of toddlers on up.
August 25, 2008 Yes, 20 minues of heaven I got this movie because we would show the opening intro to our six month old on youtube and he loved it. This is a sweet simple story but is definitely not geared for adults or people who don't like Jack Johnson since he wrote the soundtrack. That being said, I'm a kid and heart and like Jack Johnson and my now seven month old will actually sit and watch this movie for a good 20 minutes on his own while I get housework done, I'm absolutely in love with the cute little movie. I highly recommend it to mothers with young children.
July 28, 2008 DVD My grand daughter loves George. Good price and good service. Will shop again and would recommend to anyone.
June 17, 2008 Refreshingly innocent Love how innocent this movie is. There isn't anything that I worry about being inappropriate like with some other "kid" movies. And I think the animation is really nice as well, with rich, bright colors. The soundtrack is nice and mellow (great until you've heard it a few hundred times in a row).
April 7, 2008 Not like the TV show. Tells the origional story nicely but I thought it would be a little more like the TV show. My son expexted engagment from the start but it begins a little on the slow side and lacks attention grabbers later in the film. No bad but if a show ain't broke...
April 4, 2008 Awesome DVD I got this for my son's birthday on April 15th. He has played this video so many times I just had to get it for him. I only paid about $10 for such a great movie. Thanks Amazon!
March 17, 2008 A kid's movie the whole family will enjoy Like the Curious George books, this movie is written for children, which is refreshing. It's not very often that I can show my daughter a movie that she understands on her level. And, since she has quite a lot in common with Curious George, she enjoyed this heartily.
This movie does have some entertainment value for adults, though. It's sweet throughout, and Will Ferell's comedic timing creates more than one laugh-out-loud moment. This is the rare movie that our entire family enjoys together.
March 10, 2008 Love it! This movie has so much heart. I love this story... and so do my children. There are many wonderful life lessons embedded in this movie.
March 2, 2008 terrific family entertainment this movie was better than i was expecting.it's lite hearted, funny and great fun for the whole family.it's also very touching.there nothing in this movie that can't be watched by any age group.kids should lobe it,and it's also engaging enough for adults.i think the story is interesting enough for both kids and adults.it's n9ice to know there is still some quality family entertainment that really is for the whole family.i also thought the voice actors fit the characters perfectly.if you're a parent, you can set your r child down by themselves ,knowing they are watching something which is perfectly kid friendly, and you might like it as well.for me Curious George is a 4/5
February 24, 2008 I'm glad I was curious enough to watch it. When my wife told me that our"family movie night" would feature this Curious George movie, I was worried that I'd be sitting through an hour and a half of the kind of Curious George stuff that I channel surfed by on PBS. Well, I'm happy to say that I was wrong.
This is a movie designed for entertaining young children, and yet between the animation style and the reasonably fast moving story, and some of the high-tech fun incorporated into the story (and obviously a departure from the books), I found myself quite entertained and was surprised that the movie went by so quickly. Oh yeah, there is a joke or two in there that it takes an adult to understand. Nothing naughty, just stuff that will likely go over the head of a young child. So, we grown ups weren't totally left out in the cold.
My only minor criticism is that after introducing the monkey character in his jungle home up front the movie takes a long time back in the city in a museum setting the stage for the journey to Africa where George is discovered and brought back. My children didn't follow this and wondered what happened to George. So, even though grownups can follow this easily, it seems not linear enough for a four to seven year old.
Other than that, great fun.
