awesome!
This is an awesome film about the red flag excercise that happens every year @ nellis afb nevada. the sounds on this thing are phenomenal when viewed with a bose or similar system. my only complaint is the picture is a little jumpy at times due to formatting to fit the screen. the film has been formatted from imax to dvd....it won't be seamless. if you have ever been in the AF this is a no brainer purchase. excellent addition to my dvd collection!

Fighter Pilot - Operation Red Flag
Great videography and narration. Excellent footage of a wide-range of uses for jet fighters. Highly recommended to all!

Great inside look at the Air Force
This is a short 40 minute IMAX movie that I saw at the Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Museum. I really enjoyed learning more about the Air Force and how they train. It is a great look at the sophistication of their machines and training programs. It's a little disorienting, but the effect on IMAX is awesome. It would probably be only 4 stars on a regular screen. Highly recommended.

One of the best!
I currently have about 23 IMAX DVDs, and Fighter Pilot ranks among my favorites. It's a look into the intense training and responsibility given to the pilots, and a having a seat in the jet is thrilling. You get a handle on how these jets, under the guidance of an experienced pilot, are formidable weapons. You also get a feel for the intense multi-tasking the pilots must do during combat. I definitely have a greater respect for these pilots. This film is one of few that I can watch multiple times and enjoy it just as much each timne. I am using a 7 x 9 foot screen, and if you want to get the most of the IMAX film techniques, this is the way to go.

A cool glory pilot flick
I liked the power and technology. I dislike the notion that this power and technology is available to George Warmonger Bush for invasion into sovereign countries based on lies and deceipt.

Jets, Explosions, Fire, combat
This is a very good DVD if you love planes or military action. My son (only 2 1/2) loves this movie. There are a lot of flying sequences and explosions with fire, but no people being shot or any blood that normally comes with that type of action. My husband also loves the action in this movie, and the fact that it is based on real life training makes it very interesting, they are not actors. It is a documentary not a fiction film but it does keep you on the edge of your seat.

Pretty good but not the best
I saw this movie at the Imax Theater at the Wright Patterson AFB in Dayton, Ohio. It is a must for any aviation enthusiast. I would rate it a B+.

The movie keeps repeating information and the landing sequences are all the same. It gets a bit boring in the latter part of the movie. To me, it seemed a little disjointed in the end. They show some high tech 3D animation but do not follow it up. I felt that a lot of video footage of the planes landing were the same.

The makers of this movie need to take some pointers from the makers of "Magic of Flight". The "Magic of Flight" guys kept it interesting all through the duration of the DVD.

To sum it up, I would watch it but it will not be on my list of favorites.

Excellent for the young curious about fighter pilots
This beautifully shot documentary is excellent for curious young minds interested in fighter pilots and their jets. The different range of aircraft and ground vehicles is fantastic and they are all shown in a way that will fascinate and not scare young viewers. There are explosions, but no war footage or bodily harm shown in the film. My 4 yr old loved the story of the fighter pilot following in his Grandpas footsteps. This film makes you appreciate the dedication and hard work that it takes to become a fighter pilot and one of their ground crew. The special feature showing 20 mins of aircraft set to music is also a bonus.

A movie the whole family can watch and enjoy
We bought this for my 5yr old son, who LOVES anything to do with airplanes, jets and soldiers. He could watch it everyday if we let him. I really like that they followed only one benevolent pilot. Everyone that has watched this movie at our house has loved it. What a great birds eye view and perspective from our hero's.
