User Submitted First Emperor of China Reviews

the First Emperor
This is a terrible presentation of the first emperor of China. The sets, costumes, lighting, acting, everything was mediocre. The film was dull both in content and technique. I was very disappointed.

The First Emperor
This was a most interesting and pageant like presentation of the life of the first emperor of China. It seemd part movie and part documentary. I had origionally bought it thinking I was getting Tan Dun's opera of the First Emperor, But I liked this film too.

Wonderful and Short...
This docudrama, which I must admit I don not yet own on DVD, left a great impression on me, when I got to watch it on the IMAX screen of the Museum of Natural Art of New York.

In a very short lapse of time, all the essential elements that made up the time and life of the first Emperor of Xin (or Chin, China), were laid out in front of the viewer.

This documentary, elaborated into a short and very well told (the English commentary was dubbed by the very gifted Christopher Plummer, with his suave and distinctive voice), docudrama.

Impressive still doesn't describe it with accuracy. It is simply astoshingly made.

For all those who watched "The Last Emperor" by Betolucci, Zhang Yimou's "Hero", or Kaige Chen's "The Emperor and the Assassin", this is a must to complete your knowledge about the subject.

I sometimes wonder if "The Emperor and the Assassin" and "Hero" were not truly inspired by this brief docudrama.

I, in any case, will buy this title. It is money well spent on a highly intriguing subject.
