User Submitted Ice Age (2-Disc Special Edition) Reviews September 27, 2008 Sentimental favorite "Ice Age" is one of those movies you think you would never wind up loving. It's a fairly simple idea, a buddy movie, that has done plenty of times before. And yet it is pulled off with such heart and purity that I can't resist its charm. The aforementioned simple storyline is yet a good one that relies on a tried-and-true formula, and the perfect casting and humor makes this work. There is plenty of sass and humor, all kept relatively as prehistoric as this type of film could get without falling on lame pop culture references. The CGI is still one of my favorites--it's meant to look cartooney and the effect is marvelous. Yes, there are plenty of cynics against this, but to the right audience this provides plenty of laughs, lots of heart, and even a few shed tears.
September 22, 2008 it was garbage the only good thing about the movie was i got it. it had food on it and obvoisly would not play. it also had a crack in it and i basically had to throw it in the garbage. it a shame people try to sell products without knowing what condition they are in first.
August 17, 2008 Fun movie My 2.5 yr old son loves this movie. I did have some trouble with the actual dvd but amazon was great replacing it.
July 22, 2008 Ice age, not so cool edition If you have the super cool edition on DVD and a good upconversion DVD player, keep it. Picture quality not worth the upgrade. The movie itself is great. Very funny/entertaining.
July 22, 2008 Ice Age One of the BEST!
Well worth the watch. Humour galore from the word "go."
Now waiting for Ice Age 3, for Ice Age 2 is remarkably VERY good as well.
June 10, 2008 Funniest movie ever. Kids and adults can both enjoy this movie. So many levels of entertainment. And Scrat is just the best. So funny.
June 9, 2008 Lo-res original, does not do justice to BluRay's capabilities This movie is reasonably old and it shows. It is very low res when compared to newer, better computer graphics movies, like Ice Age The Meltdown and Rattatouille. It shows very much like the standard DVD, without any of the high resolution features you expect from a Blu-Ray movie. You can't see the details of the hairs in Mannie (The Mamoth), Diego (the Tiger) or Sid (the Sloth). A bit disappointing in the graphics point of view. Of course, the movie is great. Buy the standard DVD version, same quality.
June 3, 2008 The movie is good by itself The movie is already good by itself, but with a bluray quality it is perfect. Excelent for kids and adults.
May 14, 2008 Heart warming This is such a wonderful family movie, and it is hard to find a movie the whole family will enjoy. The actors who gave their voices for these characters, also gave them amazing personalities. You will laugh, cry, and completely fall in love with these characters.
April 4, 2008 slick as ICE ICE AGE looks and sounds fantastic on Blu-ray. I just wish that Fox would have ported over ALL the supplemental material that was on the 2 disc DVD edition. Otherwise, a great addition to your library.
