The true meaning of Christmas is not found in packages or a visit from Santa, but in friendship and genuine concern for others. In "A Very Minty Christmas," Minty accidentally breaks the glowing "here comes Christmas candy cane" that traditionally leads Santa through the clouds to Ponyville. Horrified that she has ruined Christmas for the entire village, Minty embarks on a perilous journey to the North Pole. Along the way, she learns the value of true friendship and discovers that simply giving of oneself can ensure a great Christmas for everyone. In "Dancing in the Clouds," Twinkle Twirl and her friend Sky Wishes strive to create an extra special dance for the friendship ball. Thanks to a little help from Star Catcher, the two friends harness the power of friendship to create a beautiful dance and a very special memory. (Ages 3 to 7) --Tami Horiuchi

Just for fun
Not really educational (per say), but the ponies are all very nice to eachother, which teaches some good social behaviors. Just a fun girlie movie that my 5 year old daughter loves.

A Sweet and Fun Christmas Movie for All Ages
My Little Pony - A Very Minty Christmas is a great holiday movie overall. The songs have that old fashioned holiday spirit charm (with the exception of the fun "Socks" song). The movie is about one clumsy little pony who breaks the beacon of their Christmas celebration, the "Here Comes Christmas Candy Cane" which guides Santa to Ponyville every year. With that broken and the threat of no Santa, Minty decides to go to the North Pole herself and make things right again. The ponies are all well animated, the movie looks great, and the Christmas theme is all Xmas trees, bright lights and the caring goodwill of seasonal cheer. Nothing religious, but not every movie should be! So this should be a great movie to show to any varied groups of youngsters since there's no religious bent, no violence or scary moments (other than some wind whipping a hot air balloon around).

Those that thought that there needed to be some evildoers in a Christmas movie need to think again... this is a Holiday flick! Its supposed to be warm, fluffy and filled with good cheer. It teaches the importance of friendship and being good to one another: two valuable lesson indeed!

An entertaining children's movie
For children of all ages My Little Pony's movie "A Very Minty Christmas" is quite an entertaining movie. For parents it might be a little too sweet a piece of fluff but that doesn't discount it from being an enjoyable watch. The voice talents of the ponies are great (especially Minty) and the antics of its title character make it quite entertaining to watch. This is a surprisingly great film for children!

Sweet - sickly sweet
My daughter loves MLP. She has been collecting them for years. She loves
the new G3ponies (generation 3) but once she discovered the original shows from the
1980s, she's not as thrilled with these DVDs as she once was. This DVD and others
featuring G3 ponies are so sweet, they're sickly sweet.

I am sure a 3 year old would probably prefer this and other G3 pony DVDs but my daughter
is 12 and she prefers the original series now. I was shocked when I watched the 1980s
shows for the first time. I expected them to be like the "too cute" mega-sugar-coated
new ones, but to my surprise, the old episodes have actual plots and a huge assortment
of non-pony friends, as well as an ongoing assortment of bad guys. They're interesting and
most of them are fairly well written.

I really think it depends on the age of the viewer as to which MLP series is more appropriate.

I know a lot of people will say I'm wrong for only giving this 3 stars, but I've seen it
and that is how my daughter and I feel about this episode. Its very "safe" and very cute,
but on the other hand, the original series wasn't as scary as some reviewers have made
it out to be for other DVD reviews.

Its not that my daughter hated this episode, but she doesn't watch it over and over
like she does with the first season MLP from the 1980s.

Gauge by age.

My daughter loves this movie
We had originally taped "A Very Minty Christmas" for my daughter and she had watched it many times until it accidentally got erased so we bought the DVD. She loves the ponies and she loves this movie whether it's the Christmas season or not.

A wonderfully entertaining and gentle children's story
My Little Pony: A Very Minty Christmas is a cheerful, animated holiday DVD for children featuring the beloved My Little Pony characters. When young Minty accidentally breaks the candy cane beacon meant to show Santa Claus the way to Ponyville, it seems Christmas this year will be bleak - or will it? Minty sets out to save Christmas with her Pony friends, and spread cheer to the despondent. Together they learn that Christmas is about the love of good friends and the power of the heart, with delightful song and dance. Special features include the bonus My Little Pony episode "Dancing in the Clouds" and sing-a-long segments. A wonderfully entertaining and gentle children's story.

Magical
I highly reccomend this video for kids, it's really sweet and wonderful! I think it's good for ages 4+! You'll enjoy it no matter what your age!
Minty thinks she's ruined Christmas, but she soon learns the hard way that Santa sees your heart, not a candy cane!
