User Submitted The Best of Mister Ed - Volume One Reviews November 2, 2008 The Good Old Days... The Best of Mister Ed-Volume One is a light hearted comedy series that I used to watch on TV when I was growing up. I am delighted to say that my grandchildren (12 & 7) enjoy the series as much as I did. They laugh at the same lines. It is timeless, ageless( I'm 62) and just good plain family fun! I recommend it to all.
August 12, 2008 mr ed fan i bought mr ed on dvd because no.1 anythig mr ed is completly unavailable in austraila no.2 im a big mr ed fan even my young daughters enjoy mr ed family fun 4 everyone
December 29, 2007 Mister Ed Volume One If you have a child that loves horses this is a good gift for them. My 8 yr. old daughter loves horses but I was running out of "horse" gifts to get her. Mister Ed was a perfect addition to her horse things.
December 14, 2007 Great show but DVD's are 'selected' shows, not all shows. Mr. Ed is a great classic comedy show from the early to mid 1960's. I barely remember seeing it as a small child so thought I'd bite and watch it as a now very mature adult. It's better than ever! I love the show but have two gripes. One is that they did not include ALL the episodes, such as all of season one. Instead there are a lot of episodes missing that it looks like we will never get to see. The second gripe is that someone needs to watch their quality control at the DVD pressing plant. I had to return the first factory sealed set because the factory scratched the DVDs, got fingerprints and goop all over them, and they wouldn't play as a result. I had to make a claim and get a refund, about a 3 week process, then buy the set again to get a copy that worked. It still had fingerprints fresh from the factory but at least it played. Seems they had a real slob working there pressing these DVDs.
August 12, 2007 Memories of bygone days The reproduction in the DVD is surprisingly good. The sound and picture quality are both excellent. The actual episodes themselves are of course old fashioned, simple and light, but listening to Ed's voice and the fun of it all brought back many wonderful memories of the sixties. Episode 2, the one in which Ed composes a song, is particularly entertaining. Overall, this DVD is very good value.
August 9, 2007 A pony is a childhood dream, a horse is an adulthood treasure I didn't watch too many episodes of Mister Ed when I was little, and I didn't know what I was missing! This is a breath of fresh air compared to all the reality shows of today, with imagination, character and plain old silly fun. (We aren't supposed to have silly fun anymore you know).
The relationship between Wilbur and Ed shows a bond many of us lack in our lives today, and hits home with animal lovers who consider their pets family. The first episode on this DVD is one of the best, where Wilbur can't believe a horse came with his new house. His wife Carol, on the other hand, is not as ecstatic, and the show Ed puts on when the horse dealer arrives is a classic. Ed, The Songwriter is very clever, and the Zsa Zsa episode hilarious. Another charmer is when Mister Ed gets a cold and decides the only cure is his own bed!
I still have not seen the second DVD, I want to prolong the fun! If you love horses, and would love to have a secret you only share with your best friend, this is for you.
August 9, 2007 GREAT FAMILY SHOW! MR. ED IS GREAT! I WATCHED THE RERUNS OF MR. ED WHEN I WAS A CHILD THROUGH ADULTHOOD. I NOW PURCHASED THE SET FOR MY GRAND'S TO VIEW WHEN THEY VISIT! THE CHILDREN LOVE THE SHOW! NO VIOLENCE, FOUL LANGUAGE, OR SEXUAL CONTENT! GOOD CLEAN FUN AND LAUGHS FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY! ALAN YOUNG ( MR. POST) WAS INTERVIEWED ON FOX NEW THIS SUMMER. MR. YOUNG WOULD RIDE MR. ED EVERY MORNING BEFORE THEY WENT ON THE SET. MR. YOUNG AND MR. ED HAD A FRIENDSHIP WHICH CARRIED OVER ON THE SHOW!
May 12, 2007 Mr Ed DVD set I bought this DVD set for my wife. She loves it! She was very pleased with both Mr Ed DVD sets that I bought for her!
May 12, 2007 Classic humor! Although my mom grew up watching the originals, I had never seen an episode until we decided to purchase the box set...
Obviously, the entire concept of the show -- Wilbur Post and his wife Carol moving into a new home, where the previous owner mysteriously left behind a horse that no one knew could talk until Wilbur came along -- is pretty ridiculous. But, if you can roll with that, the show is humorous in a comforting, everything-wraps-up-in-half-an-hour-minus-commercials kind of way. Ed (who is probably the smartest one in the bunch) is well-read and quick with the comebacks, while Wilbur supposedly works on archetectural projects no one ever sees, and Carol's only obvious purpose is to whine about her husband's attachment to his horse and come out to the barn with the occasional plate of sandwiches. How these people could survive - or how Wilbur wouldn't end up committed - is a mystery. But, nonetheless, it's a fun suspension of belief, a relief in today's world of reality shows and violent, full-of-suspense programs. It's fun to simply kick back every now and then, and pretend there really is a horse named Mister Ed who can regale us with wisdom and quips.
