one last poll for today - what with all the baby boys....

Kaitlin'smom replied: NO way I would take what ever given to me. Simply put I dont agree with it.
cameragirl21 replied: this is actually a tough one for me...i voted no because of the robotic society choice but then again, i just realized that the concept of finding out the baby's gender before birth via ultrasound or amnio is fairly new and nowadays, what would do without it?
Cece00 replied: A technique allowing you to choose the sex of your baby already exists. Its over 90% successful for both sexes.
I voted yes. I always wanted to have boys and at least 1 girl. I never wouldve done it with my first two, because I couldve gotten either 2 boys (which I did) or one of each...
But when DH & I ttc our 3rd (1st child together), we knew if it was a boy, we might use the sperm sorting to have a girl or if it were a girl, we might use it to have a boy the 4th time around.
Well, we had a girl and before we could decide to plan on sperm sorting, I got pregnant and we had a boy.
So we ended up not needing it. But we were seriously considering using this technique had we not gotten pregnant so soon with our son, probably 2-3 yrs after our daughter was born we wouldve looked into it.
stella6979 replied: I like being able to find out the sex of the baby, but to CHOOSE the sex of the baby is where I draw the line. I picked the robotic society as well, however sometimes, I'm glad we have this robotic society.
holley79 replied: I voted no. I think it is best to leave things in the hands of God. He will make the best decision for me.
ETA: I don't have anything against finding out the sex of the baby. I was all for that. As for chosing I'm against that part of it.
MyBrownEyedBoy replied: Now if I could guarantee my next child didn't have a heart condition like Logan's, I'd do that in a heartbeat. But as for gender, I don't care one way or the other.
PrairieMom replied: I claim that I DID choose the sex of both my children, both times, and you can't prove that I didn't. I read a book on it, it all had to do with when you ovulate, and male vs. female sperm. I don't see any harm in it, we mostly did it for fun, I would have been happy with what ever I got.
cameragirl21 replied: true, there is a way to choose at conception and i will try to explain it in a g rated way for anyone interested. basically, sperm determine the gender so in simple terms, there are boy sperm and girl sperm. the boy sperm are faster but they don't survive very long in the female body whereas the girl sperm are slower but they can survive considerably longer. SO if you want a boy, you ideally want conception to occur just after ovulation, because the egg is ready and the fastest swimmer will get there first. and if you want a girl, you ideally want conception to occur just before ovulation because the sperm have to wait until the egg is ready and by the time that happens, all the swimmers have made it to the finish line but only the longest living will still be viable. my question was more about if there was a foolproof way and this is not entirely foolproof because there can be other factors involved here--that the ovulation predictor kit was not entirely accurate, that the ph in the woman's body changed due to stress or whatever other factors and killed off the weakest sperm before they had a chance, etc. and this btw i have no problem with because it IS using nature to get your desired results. what i was referring to was more of a scientific method that had an accuracy rate of say, 98% or higher and required the use of some sort of scientific technique, as opposed to using the benefit of the knowledge of the nature of boy vs girl sperm.
Hillbilly Housewife replied: There is a technique... not sure about whether it's 98% or not, but it's there
PrairieMom replied: They can "spin " semen in a centrifuge. The male separate from the female. I have heard of it being done for couples that carry a genetic disorder that passes just to one sex.
C&K*s Mommie replied: I am pleased that God saw fit that I would not have the girl then a boy as I have always wanted. I am happy that God blessed me with our girls, and for the possiblity of any future children (not likely, but in just in case) I will leave it in His hands.
JadensMama05 replied: Nope. No way, no how. I could never do that. I like being surprised, first of all. Altho I did find out that Jaden was a boy during my ultrasound but I didn't choose he would be. Altho I hoped! But I couldn't do that. I couldn't mess with nature like that.. I voted the robot society one but I do agree that I appreciate a lot of the robot stuff
