Top *Must-Have* Item for New Parents
This product was recommended to me from a friend and I have to agree that it has been so helpful to me in my first few weeks as a mom. I use two of the timers the most, for timing how long baby feeds for and how long between feedings he goes. The night light feature is bright enough for finding your way around at night without having to turn the lights on, or for checking to see whether or not baby is asleep or awake. The backlight is helpful in reading the timer in the dark (though I wish it would stay on for longer than it does). Pop the batteries in, learn how to use it, and take it with you to the hospital so you can use it right away!

Can they really put out an item with such poor manufacturing???
I figured that I'd give this thing a try even though there seem to be a number of reviews that warn about the poor quality. Of course, I thought "tha'ts not going to happen to me". well, I was wrong x2- seems to be tha magic number here! 1st one I got, I put fresh batteries in and the screen was illegible, then completely faded out. the light never worked, nor did any of the buttons. I was disappointed so I rushed out to the baby mega store to purchase another. I had a devious plan to just put the broken one in the packaging from the superstore and return it to avoid having to ship it back, but much to my dismay, the one I purchased at the baby store fared only slightly better than the 1st! This time the buttons worked and the light worked, but the screen was still illegible- like half of the numbers were invisible. So, all in all, I should have listened to all of those other reviewers who had gone before me. I say skip this piece of junk and avoid the hassle. This company should not be allowed to put out a product with such a high failure rate!

Great even during pregnancy
The first unit I arrived was having a problem with the display but I prompty returned the item and was shipped new one. The customer service at Itzbeen was fantastic. My new unit works great. I am still pregnant and have been using the timer to keep track of contractions! It works great.

The most important tool for a New Mom!
Coast Innovations Itzbeen Baby Care Timer
My husband thought I was getting carried away when I first ordered my "Itzbeen". Now, after a year this month, I've gotten so dependent on it I couldn't imagine trying to remember all the things my Itzbeen allowed me to keep track of with just a glance. I use the * button as a "how long he's been awake" just like the Zzz button is "how long he's been asleep". And now, my husband uses it, and really appreciates being able to keep track of what needs to be done by a simple handoff of the Itzbeen (if I for example, run an errand while the baby is sleeping).

The lock on the side is a blessing, as I've used this timer all day, everyday for 11 1/2 months now, and the feeding button has become a little sensitive (but still works fine with the lock switch so I don't accidentally hit it and reset the timer), and the lock is also great because my son loves to play with it and loves when I light up the soft blue glow of the dials. Having a lock function lets me feel free to allow him to play with it with no worries.

The soft lights (face glows blue & soft white light on top) are very handy at night and not too bright as to wake the baby. Also, the L/R breastfeeding reminder is an excellent addition to an already wonderful tool. Although I stopped using it after we "got the hang of things", it was very helpful during the first month or so.

Overall, I LOVE this product, and am happy (and appreciate) I purchased it every single day for the past year!

Excellent tool
This is an excellent tool -- we recommend every parent with a young baby get one. IT was especially important for us because we had a fixed eating routine for several months. (Our baby wasn't allowed to go more than 4 hours between eating for a while.) The timer is perfect for monitoring that; it even served as an alarm clock for the night-time feeding. Now that he's a little older, he loves playing with it and activating the flashlight and blue LED light. The lock switch prevents him from actually changing settings though.

Great for new parents
I picked it up a couple weeks before the baby was born and once we were home from the hospital it was a lifesaver. I'm a paranoid new mom so being able to quickly look and see when the last time he ate or had a diaper change was great. It was really great in those early sleep deprived weeks. It also helps with communication between 2 working parents especially on medications.
Four months later we still use it. My son takes medicine twice a day so we have it set to go off every 12 hours to remind us. And in 4 months we have only missed 1 dose. Heck, I'm going to use it when I have to take medicine multiple times a day as a reminder.

Arrived defective
It arrived defective. The display screen did not work. Mailed back for replacement, have yet to receive it. Will revise review once new one arrives.

TEST YOURS FIRST!!!
We didn't test ours out before the baby came, and like a few other people we got a defective one. We know we could return it, but you know, WE HAVE A NEWBORN on our hands!!!

So, even if we had time and energy to brush our teeth let alone go to the post office, stand in line, send it back and wait for a new one we'd be without it for what, like a week? WE NEED OURS NOW!

It's "only" $25 and with the new baby we'll probably never get around to returning it. Would have been great IF it worked.

My advice: TEST IT FIRST or buy from BabiesRUs-- if you can. That way you can have same day return and use yours when you need it, not a week after you need it. (and have stood in line at the post office with your newborn..... Doesn't that sound like fun?)

Great product for type A personality parent
I found this product on this website but then saw it at the stores on clearance and decided to give it a try. I'm a teacher by trade, and run pretty much on bells and alarms (type A personality all the way). This timer is a dream come true for a person like me!

As a second time parent (I have two children 4 years apart, just gave birth to my son a week ago), I was obsessed with figuring out when it was the last time I did this or that (diaper change, feeding, pumping, etc.). This little gadget is the machine to settle all those fears.

Some problems with the product:
1. It's a little thick. Doesn't sit very well on a table.
2. There is no second hand; so when you first start to use it, you don't know if you got it right.
3. The alarm are in increments of 30 minutes only. A little irritating if you want anything else.
4. The clip in the back is a good idea but it doesn't do very well clipping to items like baby bags and so forth.

I highly recommend this product to a first time parent who is scared half to death about everything everyone tells them any way. I bought another two: one for myself (just in case the first one goes bust) and another for future baby showers (who ISN'T having a baby lately?). It really does help!

Itzbeen Returned!! Twice!
Bought this item at the store babies r us in cerritos. I had to return this item twice! On the display screen, the timer numbers were not really legible because of a glitch or something. You know like when you have really low batteries? Exept I used new batteries.and the same with the second one I bought. Actually the second one was worse. At first you only saw parital numbers then they just faded completely!!! I don't know maybe it was just sheer luck or maybe it was a bad batch. I hope that this item is not just poor quality manufacturing. Im a new mother and am still trying to get used to the hectic schedule. However, I am going to try and get it somewhere else. I will also give a review on that and let you know how that worked out if it even does or if I have to return it for the third time!
