User Submitted Fisher-Price Power-Plus Plug-In Swing - Best Friends Reviews November 1, 2008 Sweet Swing We purchased this in Aug 08 and it has held up well over the last three months.
First read the directions prior to assembly.
What we love:
Plug-in operation! This has saved so much in batteries it's not even funny.
Fabric durability! Had a few accidents on the way and washed it few times, stitching holds up well and no shrinking.
Motor durability! We run this about an hour a day on average, however when our child was sick we plugged it in next to the bed and ran it all night twice without issue.
What could be done better:
Although this swing is not any bigger than others we have had in the past, a simple design modification at the joints could allow this swing to fold up and store better. Our home is rather small and every bit of space counts.
Recline could use some work.
October 24, 2008 disapointed i bought this because it was a good price on amazon and also because it uses an adaptor and i wanted to save on batteries. plus it is supposed to be used with babies up to 30 pounds. the fact that it had a plug was number one. well i am disapointed because it has six speeds and it hardly moves. it swings back and forth very little and somewhat fast rather than like a wonderful battery powered swing i had years ago that had six speeds and and you could see the difference in each speed, even with heavier babies. its like it swung slower but higher like a real swing. this swing has no power in the swing, its a weak little back and forth like motion... six speeds? what a joke. and it doesnt recline enough for a newborn or young baby. also the colors of the little animals hanging overhead is quite boring. however looking at a lot of the swings...most of them have very little strength in the swing. meaning its just a little sad back and forth movement that is on the fast side....not a slow controlled back forth movement with a good sized distace from back and forth position.
big disapointment. they need to work on this one and then they will have a winner.
October 15, 2008 Nice Swing My baby got this swing as a present, and we like it a lot. I love that you can plug it and you don't have to worry about changing the batteries. The only thing I would change is the music.
August 11, 2008 Okay swing I also bought this swing for the plug in feature, which was helpful, but not much. My son did not like his swing at all and once I used my sister's papasan swing, he would go right to sleep a lot of the time. The seat is hard plastic with little padding, so maybe a blanket would help, but my son didn't fall for that either. I didn't have a problem with the swing stopping if a blanket fell out or it being too slow (how fast do you need it to go?), so my only real issue was the hardness of the swing. You may also want to add your own mobile interests as the ones on the swing aren't very captivating!
July 31, 2008 AWESOME!! I bought this swing for my god son and it has been a lifesaver. He was a very fussy little one and this swing always seemed to calm him. The music and the fact that it can be plugged in was a plus.
July 30, 2008 Love this swing!! I just recieved this swing a couple of days ago for my 3mo. old daughter, we had been using the fisher price papsan cradle swing but were having to put new batteries in it every week. I loved the whole plug in concept and it turned out great my daughter LOVES to swing if she is unhappy it pretty much instanely makes her happy so it only seemed fitting buy this plug in swing, I would definitley recommend it.
July 9, 2008 Just o.k. I bought this swing and my baby loved it and the music, but a month after I purchased it the music stopped working. The manufacter was very good about addressing a refund and sending out prepaid postage labels for the defective product, but as I just sent it back I don't know how long the actual refund process takes. I loved being able to plug the swing in, and the pockets on the sides for toys and such. But, the seat does not recline far enough for the baby to fall asleep comfortably. I have a big baby(16 lbs at 2months) and it seemed to swing well enough for the up to 25 lbs. rating. I didn't really think the speed settings actually adjusted the speed. I ended up buying the Graco lovein' Hug to replace this swing Graco Lovin Hug Easy Entry Open Top/Curved Frame Swing in Bancroft, but the Margo color. It is great and I like it so much better. It has a five point harness, the baby can recline more and in a more comfortable seat, it swings great even with my little one now weighing over 20 lbs., and I like the settings better. He seems so much more comfortable in the Graco swing.
May 19, 2008 Great simple swing It took me about 10-15 minutes to assemble, and it works great so far. I don't know what others are talking about, that it doesn't swing hard/fast enough, it seems to be just fine. Plus the plug in feature is PHENOMINAL. Honestly the mobile is really cheap and when the swing is on it shakes back and forth violently, lol. I just took it off completely since it annoys me...
May 12, 2008 great baby swing I selected this particular swing primarily because it can run on electricity instead of batteries and I must say this has proven to be a very good thing! We have a bouncy seat and a crib mobile that are more-often-than-not out of commission due to the batteries needing to be replaced; it is so great to not have to think about that problem with this swing. The one 'problem' I have with this swing, though, is that we can't find any difference between any of the swing speeds; it seems to swing at the same speed regardless of the setting. Maybe this will change as our babies get heavier? (we have five-month-old twins, the heaviest of which weighs about 14 pounds) In any case, the babies sure seem to love it and they absolutely love to watch the little animals on the mobile as they are swinging.
April 23, 2008 Love this swing I love having a swing I can plug in. We haven't even used batteries in the swing yet. I like that the mobile swings out of the way and the storage nets on the sides of the swing are very helpful. I also love the size of this swing. It is smaller than any of the swings we looked at before we found this. I love that this swing reclines in 3 different angles (recline feature in the back) so we can use it for all of baby's stages. The only things I would change would be to add a head support for newborns, and the slowest speed seemed a little fast for a newborn, but as she grows and weighs more, it won't be a problem.
