User Submitted Maclaren Volo Stroller - Carbon Reviews November 20, 2008 Perfect for tall parents and big toddlers My 3.5 yr old has outgrown his Britax Esprit and Graco Metrolite both of which I loved. I knew Maclaren had a higher weight limit so I decided to try it. We actually have it in orange so not the one available at Target. We used it the 1st time today and absolutely LOVE it. I am 5'10 and never once kicked the wheels. It is very comfortable to push and I am also pleased with the included raincover. I do wish it reclined but I don't think that feature is worth upgrading to the next model for us. The stroller is a little tricky to fold and I'm still trying to figure it out. However, I still would definitely recommend this stroller to anyone.
November 15, 2008 Light but sturdy, good for tall parents. I reluctantly bought this stroller for an airplane trip with my 3-year-old, as I refuse to enter an airport with her without a stroller. The Maclaren support system is notoriously bad. Replacement parts? Mwaa ha ha, you must deal with one of our authorized dealers. But I am 5'10" and my husband is 6'6", and just about all of the strollers out there are just too short. I didn't enjoy shelling out this much money for a stroller for a child that doesn't really need one anymore, but our previous stroller had just lost a wheel on our last plane trip. That was when I encountered the repair provider problems. So, this is a good stroller. There is a storage bin underneath, and I bought a snap on stroller storage bag for the handles. The hood is adaquate for AZ sun but not WA rains. Our very tall 3-year-old fits in it well and it can handle her 42 lbs. I love hou light it is - you can fold it up and sling it over your shoulder with the attached strap.
October 28, 2008 Love it! This is a great stroller, it's so lightweight and a dream to push. True one-handed steering. It is tricky to open one-handed but closes easily. My one-year old is very comfortable in it (she doesn't nap in the stroller). She likes that she can lean forward and the seat back moves with her somewhat so she's not immobilized. I love it for everyday walks and errands. It does tip if you leave bags on the back and take your child out, it's not heavy enough to counterbalance. Great for tall people - you never kick the wheels. Highly recommended!
October 27, 2008 no raincover included with this product from Target We bought this Volo stroller in Carbon from our local Target store directly. It's a lovely reasonably lighweight stroller, good height for tall parents, folds easily and the carrying strap is a great feature. The "Carbon" color is a nice silver (I think this is a 2007 model, not the current 2008). The mesh seat looks slightly stiff. The biggest problem we had--there is no raincover included in this item, even though the description (as of 10/2008) says there is one. I called Maclaren to ask, they told me they do not include the raincover for Target stock, because "Target likes to offer their customers a choice" and that the price reflects it. I thought we were just getting a good deal--but have returned the stroller to Target and will buy it from another place, as for $9 more you can get the raincover included (necessary for us), and a current 2008 model. I have contacted Target so they will hopefully correct their description.
July 15, 2008 Easy to Use - Beware Maclaren Customer Service For the first nine months I owned my Volo stroller I was very pleased. It is easy to use and lightweight. NOTE: the wheels will dirty the light colored umbrella top.
After nine months a seam on the stroller's back began to pull apart. After taking the stroller to the authorized repair center in my area, I was told it could not be repaired and needed to be replaced. It was covered under warranty and would be available in two weeks.
After two months of no response and no replacement seat from the authorized repair center I contacted Maclaren customer service. I provided customer service the requested pictures and copy of my receipt - twice - as I never received a response to my initial email. Follow up phone calls indicate no record of my initial call or emails - though they acknowledge that I have the correct email addresses and my contact does indeed work for Maclaren customer service.
I am in the cycle all over again. Regardless of the outcome I will not purchase another Maclaren product.
April 17, 2008 Great for Older Toddlers and Big Kids We started looking at strollers for our 3.5 year old because he outgrew his infant stroller. He is a tall and sturdy guy and the weight rating on this stroller was appealing at 55lbs maximum. The seat is also one of the widest I've seen so there's lots of room in that regard as well. What is also appealing is that older toddlers and children can remain in a stroller with a five point harness for a longer period of time with this choice. Very nice for busy and crowded places while toting around an active child. Heavy duty framing and yet lightweight. Canopy is a bit flimsy. The seat does not recline and I would urge Maclaren to add that feature to this model. The storage bin is a bit small but a good size for an older kid with a smaller diaper bag or for Mom's purse. Easy to clean on all surfaces. Handles are set higher than most so it's nice for men or taller women although perfectly fine for an average height person to push as well. There is a carrying strap on the back which is great. You can literally fold it up and go. Overall for the price (we bought ours at Target) it's a great buy.
February 13, 2008 Great Umbreall Stroller We love the Maclaren Volo. It is very lightweight. Folds/unfolds very easily. If you want a stroller to run errands this is a great one.
