Decent pads
These score an A with me for eco-friendliness, but a C for effectiveness. They tend to kind of leak--as in they get saturated and then my bra gets wet and then my shirt gets wet. It would be nice if they had some sort of more waterproof fabric on the outside to prevent that from happening. That being said, I'm not sure if there is a better fabric option.

Okay Pad
I bought these to use around the house and overnight in the hopes of saving money. They are fairly absorbent, but they do leak sometimes, and they shrink a bit on the first wash. I now pair them with a Lansinoh disposable (which I LOVE!), as it helps protect against any extra leaks.

work well- not sweaty like disposables
I love these- they are soft and comfy. Disposable ones make me feel gross and sweaty like im wearing a plastic diaper. I have only had occasional leaks on days when I didn't nurse or pump enough, so I simply learned to keep an extra pair around- no big deal. I wash these separately in my mini wonder-washer so that they don't get mixed in with my clothes and lost. I dont really wear tight clothes- but when I do I just wear a heavier bra to cover the lines (not that it really matters who sees im wearing breast pads, everyone looks at the kid these days- not me!)

Leaky
I bought these prior to my son being born/before breastfeeding. I started using these in the beginning instead of the dispoables because they are less wasteful. I found these very bulky and would wake up every morning with soaking wet cotton breastpads, bra, and t-shirt. After that, I switched to the disposable medela breastpads a friend gave me to try; they are super thin and very absorbent and only $10 for a month supply (you only need to use two a day, they are that absorbent).

Super soft and Comfortable
I have been through 4 brands of disposables and also have several pairs of these. At first when I was sore and using nipple cream, I used the disposables. The yellow cream stains, so I didn't want to mess up my good pads. After I no longer needed cream, I moved on to the washable ones. I think they are so much softer and more comfortable than the disposables. I forget that I even have them on. I agree with other posters that they may not be as discreet as some of the disposables, but I don't really care. I don't wear too many tight clothes these days and if I did I could use disposables (to me the J&J and Avent disposables are the most discreet). I don't leak much anymore, so these are plenty sufficient to collect leakage. I have four pair. I generally do laundry once a week, with one load at some point mid-week. I'm able to always have some on hand.

Comfortable and Economical
I've been using disposable nursing bra pads but they were uncomfortable and lumpy so I tried these cotton ones instead. I REALLY liked them and they were certainly much more comfortable than the disposables. They do leak though so I only use these around the house and while sleeping. So..comfort is a 5 star for sure. But, better stick with the super soaker uppers during the day.

OK but disposables are better
I like the fact that these pads are made from renewable sources and can be reused, so i bought them for ecological reasons. I was also given some of the disposables. I have to say I'm going to let go of my idealism this once because the washable pads feel very inflexible and awkward under my shirt. If you are using no bra or a bra that is not ironclad, you will be able to see the pad protruding, since for some reason it does not adjust to your breast shape as much as the disposables. I also do not like that they produce fuzz that gets glued to my nipples when they leak, which is very hard to remove without soap. Somehow I do not like the idea of my newborn eating that fuzz with his meal--even if it is cotton. Surprisingly, I also felt that the disposables felt gentler to my sore nipples than these.
So far, both types have managed to hold all my leaking so I cannot comment on this. However, it feels as if the disposable absorbs the moisture better and in that regard is more comfortable as well.

They are OK
These pads did not work too well for me. They held up well in the wash but were not very absorbent. Maybe I was just leaking too much. The disposables worked best for my needs.

I love these bra pads!
These bra pads are by far the most comfortable and absorbant that I have found. I have tried at least 4 different brands and styles. These are my favorite. They hold up well after months of washings. The only drawback is that they are thick (thus the softness and super absorbency) and have a seam that will not always lie flat along the edge. If you are wearing a tight or extremely thin shirt, you may be able to see the outline of the pad through your clothing. Although I found this to be the case with many bra pads, these seemed to be the worst. But, their excellent performance and comfort still make them my hands down favorite. All the other bra pads I have just sit in my drawer.

MUCH better than disposables!
These offer at least as much protection as the disposables and are more comfortable and less "crunchy" (ie they don't make noise like I found the thick disposables did!). They wash and dry well too. My favorite pads, which I would rate 5 star-plus, are called "MilkDiapers" nursing pads. Most of the pad is thin, soft cotton/flannel...and then it has an 8-layer thicker section to absorb where you need it most. Even though they're soft to begin with, they get softer and softer after each washing. I used them for over 2 years and they were still in good enough shape to pass along to friends! They also saved me from having to double up on other thin washable pads which made me look even more odd-shaped than I was already feeling. Here's a tip... after leaking in one of the pads, I often gave that pad to my baby to sleep with, or sent her to daycare with it. My "smell" would comfort her when I couldn't. Best wishes for a happy, enjoyable breastfeeding experience for you and your child!
