The design of the Moby Wrap uses your entire back, as well as your shoulders, to carry the weight of your baby. Unlike other carriers, which have narrow straps or go across one shoulder, the Moby Wrap is a wide piece of fabric that is wrapped over both shoulders and tied on your waist. There are no buckles, snaps or other fasteners which make wearing simple. The Moby Wrap is long enough to fit all sizes of baby wearers and babies - 5 to 35 lbs. Black or Chocolate.
User Submitted Moby Wrap Baby Carrier Chocolate Reviews October 1, 2008 I use my Moby every day For the price of a Baby Bjorn you can buy two Moby wraps and have one in the wash! I work in a metropolitan area so my daughter and I ride public transportation a lot and the Moby has been a life saver. She was born rather small (5lbs) and wouldn't fit in most conventional carriers. I chose the Moby after extensive research on slings and wraps and chose it because of its durability, versatility, lack of hardware, wash-ability, back-saving configuration, and economical price. It took about 10 minutes to figure out how to tie it correctly, then about a weeks worth of trials to find and perfect our signature hold. After that, I can get the wrap on and off in a matter of seconds. It does get pretty warm in the summer but since I live in the north east, I was able to wear very light clothing and use it most of the summer. My daughter is currently about 20 lbs and we still use it every day. If the ends get dirty, it isn't that big a deal since the ends don't normally touch the baby and the wrap is machine washable. It tends to shrink a little in the wash but this is great if you've been using it for a while and it gets a really stretched. It rolls up nicely to fit in a diaper bag but will take up a lot of room. I'm stopped constantly by people wanting to know about this wrap. I've referred many people to purchase the Moby warning that it does have a learning curve, but in my opinion is one of the best products out there and you really can't beat the price! If you're undecided, Google "sling comparison" for more information - one website has an easy to understand chart comparing pouch, wrap, ring, asian, and the bjorn style carriers.
September 22, 2008 little girl loves it! I decided to buy the moby wrap after reading such good reviews about it. It arrived so quick! Overall I love it; my only complaint, and it's a small one, is that it's a bit bulky on me being small (5 ft and small frame). My 3 month old daughter loves it though, and it makes it much easier to get things accomplished during the day!
September 19, 2008 Akward at first but so comfortable once settled in The first couple of times you put this on it is a bit of a challenge but once you get the hang of it, it is no harder than any other carrier. It is well worth the learning curve. This distributes the weight so well you hardly know you have a little passenger. Hands free you can move around and get things done while your little one is snug secure and happy. You can bend over and they stay secure. Easily washable and dryable with no clips to break or adjust. This is totally self adjusting. Discrete breastfeeding is simple. I'm a big gal at over 200lbs with limited shoulder movement and this worked well for me.
September 18, 2008 Worth the money! I absolutely love this product. It gives me the capability to take care of things while my little girl is right where she wants to be, next to mommy or daddy (usually mommy :P). It's very easy to use, although it does take some practice to get used to. I only have one of the ties down so far. When my little girl is sleeping in it, she will usually sleep anywhere from an hour to three hours at a time. However, she loves to stretch and move around a lot, so she tends to squirm and get uncomfortable in the tie that I have her in when she's awake. Either way, it was well worth the money. I would recommend it to any active mom!
September 17, 2008 Not for my baby I bought this wrap while I was still pregnant after doing a lot of research. I practiced wrapping it with a baby doll in order to get the hang of it. It was easy and when I finally put my son in it, it held him snug and close to me. However, from day one my baby was a squirmer and absolutely hated being wrapped. I thought it would be like the swaddle and calm him. It actually did the opposite. With the swaddle, he would calm down and sleep. In this, he would get himself wound up trying to get out until he was screaming. I thought as he got older he would enjoy it more but he actually enjoyed it less and less until it got to the point where he would only tolerate it for a few minutes. He simply likes to move around too much. Until he was about 3 months, I could carry him in the wrap while he was asleep. After 3 months, he would try to wiggle even when he was asleep and wake himself up and scream. I never even thought that a baby would not want to be wrapped but my son absolutely does not. I wish I'd waited to spend the money until I knew this. If your child likes to be wrapped, I think this is probably a good product. But, if your baby is a squirmer like mine, this may not be a wise purchse.
September 14, 2008 A little piece of sanity... My son is eight weeks old. I've used the Moby Wrap and a Baby Bjorn. The Moby Wrap is the only place where he will consistently nap. So for it's ability to help me soothe a tired, screaming kid quickly, I'd give it five stars. It is very comfortable to wear. I like being able to spread the weight across my shoulders.
The only drawback for me was getting it tied and the baby into it correctly. It took a few tries before I felt confident. It helped to stand in front of a mirror. The Baby Bjorn was easier in this respect, but my son is more comfortable in the Moby.
September 1, 2008 The best wrap EVER! I can't believe how comfortable this wrap is to wear. I absolutely love it and so does my son. I was inimadated at first having to wrap it myself and being secure enough with it putting my son in it but, trust me, it is not that difficult. After the 2nd try I was comfortable with putting him in.
I tried this carrier after using the Baby Bjorn with my first son. I love carrying them but the Bjorn had a lot of hot spots on me and my sons limbs would get cold as if their circulation was being cut off. This has never happened with this carrier. There don't seem to be any hot spots plus he seems so much lighter with the Moby because the weight is distributed so nicely. I would highly recommend this for anyone that wants to carry their child hands free.
August 30, 2008 given as a gift This item was purchased as a gift for my best friend. She is very excited to use it once her little one is here. Fast shipment and arrived in perfect condition.
August 26, 2008 Very convenient I bought this wrap to help get some back support while carrying baby. it was pretty good! the only caveat is my baby doesnt want to stay in the carrier for long. and i guess u can only use this at home, because if you are outside and want to take baby out, you have to unwrap the whole thing, a cumbersome process in the middle of a road.
August 23, 2008 Finally!!!! I feel like I've tried everything with my very picky 6 week old son. My son who is 12lbs already was very fussy with all the other carriers I tried with snaps and ties and too much mess to go on! So I did alot of research and found the Moby in Indigo. He whimpered for about 2 seconds in the Moby but the next thing I knew he was fast asleep! YES! Something that finally worked! It's really easy to figure out after you do it a couple of times...I had it down pat and memorized after 2 times. Using a mirror at first helps a lot too. I feel very comfortable in it and I loved how easy it was to get him out of to put him in his bassinet for his nap. I also used it to nurse and it was so amazing to have two hands free again. I can't wait until the Fall so I can wrap him and take my doggie for a walk at the same time. Having such a large baby and carrying him around in the infant seat all the time is a huge pain (how big will he be by 6 months?) I look forward to getting lots of use out of this and I can't wait until I can carry him on my back and front facing! Finally I can get some laundry done! The only downside is that in such warm conditions I would hesitate to wear it outside for too long (it's almost the 100's here everyday). Other than that this product is a must if you have a fussy baby who loves to be held!
