All those plugs behind your PC naturally invite a child's exploration. Prepare now with this terrific safety cover, which fits easily around most standard single-row power strips and surge suppressors. No unplugging required! Just open the top, pop in the strip and snap the case shut. A separate, hinged door covers the power switch for adults-only access. 15"L x 3.25"W x 3.5"D.
User Submitted Mommy's Helper Power Strip Safety Cover Reviews October 19, 2008 My cat can no longer turn off the TV! This product is doing exactly what I wanted it to -- keep my cat from jumping on the off switch of my power strip and turning off the TV, cable box, etc, all in one blow. This was the biggest power strip cover that I could find, and does indeed fit over my plugs with AC adaptors. Very satisfied.
October 10, 2008 Not so great We have two power strip covers at our house--one by safety 1st and the other by Mommy's Helper. The Safety 1st cover far exceeds the quality and durability of the Mommy's Helper cover (whose buckles looked like they might break if opened too often.) I like the Safety 1st cover because it allows for adjustability in length and is very wide inside, as well as looking quite sturdy. Wish I had purchased the Safety 1st version first, I never would have ordered this one.
July 13, 2008 Does it's job well We've had this power strip cover for about a month now. So far we've been really happy with it. It has kept my 1 year old from playing with the power strip. It's less intriguing to him now that he can't see the lighted switch to turn it off and on.
April 2, 2008 Too Small I have several different types of power strips in my house, and this thing is too small for all except one of them. I bought two of these and I cannot use the second one now, and I don't know what to do about the 3 power strips in my house that will not fit. Also, you cannot have anything with a large plug, or it won't shut (for example, my iPhone plug won't fit). I wish it was just a little bit larger. It is hard to open, but I guess that's good. The picture with the product open is deceptive, there is no way a big AC converter plus would fit inside this thing.
February 18, 2008 Great Idea I am so glad someone came up with something like this. The only thing I didn't realize is it's only big enough for the long skinny power strips. I didn't realize it until I was about to use it. No big deal though, just had to change my power strip to a long skinny one.
November 30, 2007 Great product but beware of product dimensions We use it all over our house. It actually makes our cords look very neat. But before you buy it, please beware of the dimensions of the product (see in product descriptions). It fits all our single-row surge protectors, and even a double-row extention cord with timer. it fits most of our plugs with transformer, EXCEPT some of the bigger ones. Unfortunately, the transformers for our router and DSL modem are too big to fit in, so we still have to find another solution for those...
June 11, 2007 Good enough for me For a piece of plastic, it does a good job. It is hard to open (that's the point) but the power on and off switch is easily accesible, which seems a good safety precaution. It comes with three little outlet covers, and a couple of useful plastic ties for the cords. the only problem i have with it so far, is the surge protector i am using is too small, and the first plug is exposed in the on/off switch compartment that is easy to open. it is still better than nothing, but like with all kids safety products, parents are never replaced.
December 27, 2006 Love this! Great babyproofing idea -- my 16 month old has not been able to open this cover. Additionally, I think it actually looks better (cleaner) now that the cover is on the power strip.
