User Submitted Springmaid Baby Waterproof Crib Pad - Big Dot Reviews December 1, 2008 GREAT PRODUCT! My only complaint is that according to Amazon (above) this item is now discontinued! I hope this is only a temporary thing, as I really want MORE of these wonderful waterproof pads! The best thing about them is how BIG they are.
Does anyone happen to know where else the pads can be purchased?
October 5, 2008 Couldn't live without This pad is wonderful! The pad fits perfectly in the crib and stays nice and flat on the sheet. So far, nothing has gotten through this pad. It is much easier to take off and wash than the crib sheet is, making it a real time-saver and back-saver. I actually bought an extra one and cut it up into 1.5 by 2 ft pieces and use them on my changing table. They do sell changing table sized, but I found I got more for my money by using this larger one and cutting it to size. The pad is reversible, and the back side of this pad is white. If the polka-dots don't fit into your nursery decor, the white will probably go just fine.
October 3, 2008 Works wonderfully in cribs I purchased this to use in my daughter's crib over-night since she seems to leak through her diaper and pajamas no matter what and I was getting very tired of changing sheets every morning.
This pad is HUGE, much bigger than I was expecting - it will easily cover an entire crib mattress. I decided to cut it in half and just use half at a time since my daughter tends to stick to one end of her crib when she sleeps at night. It's wide enough that I can just tuck the ends under the Cozy Wedge crib bumber and she has room to roll around in her sleep without it bunching up beneath her. I've only washed it once but it does seem like the ends will fray very easily so I think when I do need to wash it I'll do so on a gentle cycle and let it air dry to help it last a little longer.
I would say this was well worth the price considering the size of the pad, and it has a cute print on it. Last night my daughter was 'picking' at the little colored dots on the pad.
July 29, 2008 From Babies to 70 years old My husband has prostrate cancer and gets hormone shots, which causes him to get hot flashes and sweats. He needed something on his bed so he wouldn't ruin the mattress. He really sweats alot. I remembered using these waterproof pads when our girls were babies and how great they worked. They still work great and wash great. Thank you for helping us through this hard time.
June 22, 2008 Great for Co-Sleeping! I have 2 of these pads and am ordering lots more. They are super soft and wonderful at catching leaking breast milk, spit up, throw up etc. in a co-sleeping arrangement. Definitely soft enough to be next to baby's skin.
June 21, 2008 Absorbant, waterproof and attractive Works as advertised - it stops leaks. I like the design as well. It gets a bit fuzzy after washing but does not look bad. You can also cut it if you want to customize it to something.
June 4, 2008 Does the job, but falls apart quickly. I use this as a mattress pad in my son's crib, and it does a good job of soaking up diaper leaks. It is a nice large size that covers most of the crib, since my son like to essentially do gymnastics all over the place in his crib when he sleeps, so you never know what corner he'll end up in.
My only complaints are: 1 - it "pills" and shreds a LOT after washing, so I will probably have to buy more before my son is six months old. 2 - since it doesn't attach to the mattress in any way, it can be difficult to situate between the mattress and the sheet without any lumps.
However, overall, it's a good product that I use all the time, and since it's decently priced, it's worth buying in my opinion.
Grade: B+
June 1, 2008 these are huge! Wow! When they say they are crib sized, they aren't kidding. It will protect your crib mattress from end to end. Washed for first time according to instructions, they came out just fine. Intend to buy more of these as the first ones get worn.
May 18, 2008 Wonderful product Bought this item based on recommendations from the Amazon community and elsewhere. While skeptical before using (was it *really* waterproof? how could it be 100% cotton and so soft and machine washable and still work?), I'm highly satisfied with the quality as well as versatility. Works as a crib mattress pad beneath sheets (and doesn't bunch up nearly as much as I thought, so is good enough to use rather than a fitted crib mattress pad); as a washable, waterproof cover for a changing pad; folded in half and on top of a clean towel for a newborn's sponge bath; in a diaper bag for a clean changing surface; etc etc. Relatively inexpensive and worth the price, buy multiples if you can.
March 19, 2008 GREAT for babies who spit up This is often advertised as a crib pad, or a changing pad. practice co-sleeping with my son, and I lay it underneath us on the bed to protect my sheets from breastmilk and spit up. I also love that you can cut these down to size. You can use them as a placemat, or under a high chair!
